Eight years ago, I was cast out of my family, out of my pack, out of the very land that had nurtured me since I was born. The charge? Shifting in front of a human. I’m only in my 20s, but I’ve got empty nest syndrome - hard. With both of my brothers wrapped up in their own lives, I feel like I’ve been left at loose ends. And losing my job hasn’t exactly helped in the "get out and keep myself busy" department, either. A chance meeting with Henry is enough to prove how captivating an older omega can be. Getting to work with him as an assistant is enough to keep me on my toes. But finding out he’s my mate? That’s a twist I never expected. It’s clear that Henry is running from his past. I can only try to be the safe place he can land.

The last thing I want to be is a charity case. It’s part of why I was reluctant to come back home after I got myself blown up overseas with the Navy. But I need a place to heal - away from prying human eyes - and reconnecting with my family seems like the right thing to do. It’s reconnecting with my best friend that really throws me for a loop, though. I was head over heels with him when I left, but he never seemed to return my feelings. It doesn’t take me too long to figure out that the sparks are still there - and that he feels them, too.
