Publisher's summary

Hope Winston is in Italy running a school for her best friend, Kay Summers. But helping Kay has put her life in danger. Hope doesn't want protection and she doesn't want help. She doesn't want anyone, particularly not devastatingly sexy Capitano Franco Rivers, head of the elite anti-mafia squad. Hope hates cops. So how did she end up sleeping with one?

Hope Winston is the most delectable woman Franco Rivera has ever seen. There's only one problem. Hope keeps sticking her pretty little nose in trouble. She needs a keeper. And Franco Rivera is just the man to keep her…in his bed.

Editorial reviews

When Hope Winston races to Italy to help her best friend in need, she stands out in the eyes of men not only because of her blonde hair and enviable figure, but also because someone is endangering her life. In this erotic romantic suspense novel by Lisa Marie Rice, who has mastered the genre, listeners get a full dose of impassioned continental sex between Hope and an Italian police office, but they also get an ample supply of thrills and chills.

Actress Jorjeana Marie's performance draws out both the sensuality and the suspense of the tale with a voice she describes on her website as "fitting like your favorite pair of jeans" - or perhaps, in this case, like one's best lingerie.

Total Drama and Tons of Fun!!

Okay got this one on a sale, but totally worth it. I enjoyed the story, plenty of sexy times and lots of good fun. Tons of drama which, I love, plenty of good story. I like the story line though the dramatic parts were totally unrealistic, but honestly what aren't! So, for the deal I got it was a great read.

OK for $3.95

STORY BRIEF:
Hope is afraid of police because she was harassed and mistreated by them in the past. She was innocent but was a murder suspect for awhile. Hope's friend Kay went to Italy to run a school teaching English. Kay was hit by a car and is in the hospital. Kay asks Hope to come to Italy to manage the school temporarily. Hope is living in Kay's house. Someone has been trying to scare Hope by damaging property and slashing the tires on her car. Kay convinces Hope to talk to Franco, the local police chief. It's love at first sight for Franco. He arranges for police to provide around the clock security for Hope. He personally handles the night shift, sleeping with her.

REVIEWER'S OPINION (WITH MILD SPOILERS):
This was pretty good, but not as good as the author's other books. I suggest you read her other books first, and if you like her style then consider reading this. The hero/heroine characters are similar to those in her other books. My biggest problem was "stupid actions by Hope." A few examples of this were: Hope chased an armed bad guy while she was unarmed. Franco asked his friend to take Hope away from an area for her own safety, but she incorrectly assumed that Franco didn't like her anymore. Then she turned her cell phone off when it was supposed to be on for her security.

My second problem was more subjective. Somehow I wasn't as excited about the characters, their chemistry, and their relationship as I've been with the other books.

DATA:
Swearing language: strong. Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: 7. Setting: current day southern Italy.

Hot and Steamy!

As a huge fan of Lisa Marie Rice, I was delighted to see more of her work come to Audible. Port of Paradise is a little bit different to that of Ms Rice's usual trilogy offerings but is still crammed full of romance, suspense, and hot steamy sex. Add to that a little bit of angst, and the result in an excellent listen. Hope has a history that makes her hate cops, but Capitano Franco Rivers is determined that she will be his (and seriously, who wouldn't want to be his!!). Jorjeana Marie is an excellent narrator that I'd not encountered before, but who I'd happily listen to again. Thoroughly recommended.

TENDER, TOUCHING, TENSE THRILLER & HOT TOO

When Hope decided to help her injured friend Kay and steps in for her whilst she was recovering in an Italian hospital little did Hope know it would be a dangerous and life altering decision for her.

Hope is a beautiful, mild tempered, sweet Teacher but she is haunted by events in her past which makes her frightened of Cops but when she finds she has to seek the help of one well they don't come much better than Franco. Capitano Franco is a handsome Italian Stallion and as soon as he sets eyes on Hope it's love at first sight but he soon realises she's quite nervous around him and is potentially in danger too so he quickly tries to put her at ease... with night-time protection and lots of sex. Their romance quickly escalates but so too does the danger and questions so there won't be a HEA for them until trust can be won, secrets revealed and the villains are safely in jail.

An enjoyable hot listen with passion, romance, danger, secrets, drama, kidnapping, mystery, suspense and a frantic desperate conclusion.

Worth a credit? I love LMR's books so it would have been a YES (or should it be SI) but it's a bargain at only $3.95 so don't waste a credit.

Yummy Italian Stallion anyone !!

Any additional comments?

This was a sweet and sexy story. I sure loved the hero, Franco, and the students at the English Language School in Italy. I didn't find Hope, the heroine, all that compelling a character, but I did like her and liked that she stayed true to character throughout the story. The story was pretty good, but not as good as the author’s other books, I am a big fan of Lisa Marie's books so will continue to follow her. :)

Everything good except the narrator

The story was wonderful and had me stuck to my headphones during all my chores. Everything a romance should be - instant attraction, mystery, suspense, strong leads. I wish the narrator was better, though. Her voice and delivery were ok, but she mispronounced a lot of words. And, I had to listen in 1.25 time. There should have been a male voice for Franco. The audio would have been out of the park if Aiden Snow, Troy Duran or Sebastian York had done the male part! Ms. Meunch just couldn't carry it on her own. It deserves a second time through, but this time on my Kindle, not the audio.

Great at any price

What did you love best about Port of Paradise?

The sexy Italian hero.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes it did. The mystery of where the voice and noises were coming from and why someone was trying to get Hope out of the house.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Hope changed her hair style and wore a sexy dress the effect she had on the men on the street and her lover was hilarious.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Mostly laugh, a few tears, a lot of heat and a happy ending for both Hope and her girlfriend.

Any additional comments?

I just wish I had not read everything this author has written,so that I could get that terrific feeling you get when you first find and read a new to you author.
