Historia
The world watches the sky with trepidation. The insanity of Xenocide knew no bounds, and all will soon suffer the effects he had planned for a millennium. Though none know what is to come, they all know it isn't going to be easy to survive. The Master has a plan, one that can give the world at large a way to escape the onrushing desolation. It may be on the bleeding edge of morality and what he needs might prove too difficult to secure, but the Master asks for trust. Cal and Dale both have their role to play as the world hurtles toward destruction.

Decent ending; but Narrator Swaps drive me Nuts
Revisado: 06-25-22
This was a decently paced wrap up to a really enjoyable series; but swapping out the narrator for the final book was incredibly jarring and kept me from enjoying it as much as it deserves.

Historia
The city of Celum is not much like Liscor at all. While Erin is surrounded by familiar, human faces, she’s far from home and without her inn. At the same time, a certain ill-tempered Lyonette is squatting in Erin’s inn, and Goblins are on the move. The Goblin Lord’s threat reaches across the entire region, and the Redfang tribe has rallied against him with the Floodplains tribe, although their Chieftains do not agree on some crucial matters. This winter, there is only snow, Goblins, magic, and iambic pentameter.

Revisado: 05-14-21
As someone who averages 7+ hours of audiobooks a day; these books are absolutely amazing; I love the amount of details and emotion conveyed in these stories. I know these will become part of my regular cycle of listening. The narration is extremely well done and a joy to listen to.

Extremely Satisfying
Revisado: 05-10-21
I discovered this series looking for something with more meat than my usual 8-14 hour long books, the narrator is very talented and the story is so strongly engaging you forget you've been listening all day. I love this series and can't wait to dive in to #3.

Great story; hated this narrator
Revisado: 10-17-20
As if having the narrator changed 6 books into the series wasn't bad enough; the continual mispronunciation of character names and the word "ley/leyline" was even more jarring than the high squeaky tones she used for voicing Jenks; but honestly the worst was the unnecessary and clearly racial tone she gives Keyslea. Marguerite Gavin never felt the need to make any of the darker skinned characters sound that way and I found it was really upsetting to hear those tones in this narration.

This storyline just keeps getting better
Revisado: 07-30-20
I really enjoyed the Soulwood storyline when it first started and it just keeps getting better, stronger, and richer as each book progresses.
My only real complaint was the change in pronunciation for Ephraim.
Though given how this book ended; I must confess to serious trepidation about what horrors await the next installment of the series.

Like most other fans I've waited 6 years for this book; and it was so very worth it; the new depths to which this book has begun revealing are fantastic and Marsters perfomance is as always delightful. So many great moments had me laughing out loud and gaining funny looks from my housemates.

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

Devouring too quickly for my wallet
Revisado: 10-07-19
Gottferdam; but I wish like hell these were in box sets, at 21 books in the series and over 100 in this universe its going to take me years to be able to afford to catch up at this rate.
These books are amazing! I love the story so far! I love that I don't have to zone out the first chapter as the author covers everyones back story and I can just pick up from where I left off and dive right back in.
The characters are people I can relate to and idolize, and Emily Beresford is officially at the top of my female narrators list, she does such a wonderful job making sure the right tones and inflections are there, no inappropriately breathy or "bedroom voice for food" narrations here and in my experience that's a serious rarity that makes me appreciate her all the more.
I have been devouring these books at a rate of 1 or 2 a day but I've finally run out of spare credits and things in my library I feel okay exchanging. So I'm going to have to take a break for now and let my credits build back up. Damn but I wish these were available in Box Sets, even in bundles of 4, I just can't get enough of this story and this universe I stumbled into.

Overall rather flat
Revisado: 09-26-19
I really enjoyed the first book, especially the narrator, it was incredibly distracting at the beginning of this one to not only have a different narrator but starting out Will M. Watt's lisp was extremely noticeable and distracting; it does get better as the narration goes on but occasionally it sneaks back on and kicks me in the ear.
The story was interesting as a setup for further tales but I did feel it meanders a little too much to truly be gripping; in fact I caught myself having drifted off for a chapter or two on more than one occasion and having to skip back and relisten.
It's not great, not as good as the first book but I got through it and have hope for the next in the series.
