Couldn't tell it was AI
Revisado: 03-30-24
these stories were unique with good mysteries.I was very impressed with the virtual voice,I usually don't listen to AI narrated stories, but this was stupendous, the tone, inflection, proper pauses, so good I just kept listening. I highly recommend if you enjoy Holmes type stories, solid mysteries still in line w Watson and Holmes manners, great narration. I'm adding this to my library to come back to for my nightly listens .Give it a chance

Excellent performances-stirring, eerie
Revisado: 07-30-22
Attn: VERY VERY vague references in this review that some person might see as a slight spoiler, just fyi
Although this wasn't my cup of tea, the two narrators did a wonderful job, I'm a sucker for Carla Cuigino, and she doesn't disappoint, as well as the narrator of act two- This had an eerie almost gothic feel, felt like a glimpse into one person's life slipping into a delusion as a way of coping with loss. Unfortunately, I don't typically enjoy vagueness in my stories. I didn't like it as much as if there had been a little more explanation of what the goal of "the play" was, there are obvious points of exploiting wealthy whites feeling guilty about race relations, and shining a light on a few other stigmas common in our society today , but I wanted to hear more about the people who put 'the cube' on and their feelings of the outcome after the performances, like how they felt about the money they received and what they did with it, etc . This is a fairly heavy story ,not lighthearted Also strong trigger warning for miscarriage.

Actually a twist
Revisado: 05-26-22
All of these domestic thrillers say they have a twist you won't see coming, with this one, even though I was late to the game- listening to it a long time after it first came out -and had read several blurbs , reviews, ratings, I still didn't see the final twist! This was narrated very well, the story itself was good, the characters were fleshed out thoroughly, my one complaint is I felt like certain episodes were repeated too much, I got the point after the first 3 times -but I understand the need to put the reader in the situation, I just felt the need to start speeding through a few parts to get through them. I would definitely recommend, but there should be trigger warnings for miscarriage, verbal, physical and sexual abuse. Narration- 5 stars, Story -4 stars, Realistic Characters -5 stars , Pace-3 stars

18 Hrs. Should be 8, Still Great Story
Revisado: 11-09-21
Great story,so so so repetitive, waited awhile for this release. I fell asleep many times ,or sped up the narration and missed nothing, like title says too long and material is covered over and over. This story was unique and intriguing, the narration was excellent and the creative way they used random people's perspectives about the family made it even more interesting, I'm glad I listened to this one because there's no WAY I could come close to the end if I had decided to read it

Age Inclusivity Rocks!
Revisado: 10-06-21
I read the first one 'An Elderly Lady Up to No Good' and just loved Maud! So clever, and always underestimated because of her age I just knew this was going to be entertaining and it was , I like that the stories are short , but I'd appreciate a novella or a full novel even. There's not enough material that has the main character being elderly and that stinks ❣️ I hope many people enjoy this so the author will produce more!! Her detective fiction is pretty good as well!

Margot Hunt does it again -her short stories and novellas are so good. The pace is perfect. The characters aren't ridiculous or unrealistic and neither are the plots. This is another great one!

Drags
Revisado: 12-13-20
It's a cute detective story-- but there are too many spots where it drags on and on. I'd try another one though so it must not be too bad just a bit slow

Entertaining! Worth a Credit!
Revisado: 11-22-20
This has been on my radar for a long time, when I search " mysteries similar to Agatha Christie's books" this one almost always pops up on the lists that I see- I'm just sorry it took me so long to finally get to it!! My only complaint is that it seemed to drag on in some areas- there was one character's p.o.v. that I felt was just too repetitive- like once we understand how she thought that was enough but it went on and on throughout the book, tediously. Other then that, the plots, the characters, the protagonist and setting were excellently fleshed out - and narration was quite good. I highly recommend especially if u enjoy British mysteries. There is some foul language, some sex talk and some talk of drugs- in regards to possible " suspects" mostly- just a warning for anyone who doesn't like that. I enjoyed this immensely and will be reading/ listening to the rest of the series ASAP
