  • Self-pity. Autism Parenting
    May 23 2025

In this episode, we’re diving into an emotion that quietly steals progress and resilience - self-pity. It’s the feeling we often don’t want to admit, but one that can weigh heavily on our hearts.

As autism parents, we navigate medical systems, fight for support, weather meltdowns, and carry our children through storms most can’t imagine. That’s not weakness - that’s strength. We don’t need pity from others, and we definitely don’t need to turn it inward.

Together, we’ll unpack what self-pity really is, how it shows up in our thoughts (“Why does my child have to struggle so much?”), and most importantly, how to step out of it and into empowered, grounded action.

This episode is a gentle yet honest reminder that you are stronger than you think - and you are not alone.

  • Not feeling Good Enough
    May 16 2025

Today, we’re shining a light on something many of us quietly carry—the feeling of not being good enough. If you’ve ever heard that whisper in your heart, know this: you are not alone, and you are more than enough.

When someone asks how you are, don’t just say "fine"—say amazing, say fantastic! Even something as simple as clean drinking water is a reason to celebrate.

Together, we’ll explore how this belief sneaks into our lives as autism parents—and how, with a little awareness and a lot of love, we can rise above it and reconnect with the incredible strength already inside us.

  • Finding your Center - Autism parenting
    May 15 2025

Today, we are exploring something that has really made a difference to me as a mom, finding your center while you are in the middle of an autism parenting storm. So, have you ever seen footage of a hurricane? From above? There is chaos and destruction swirling around.

You'll see a cow flying past. Maybe you'll see a refrigerator, but right in the middle is something quite remarkable. The eye of the store. Perfectly calm. While everything around it rages, that image has become my favorite metaphor for autism Parenting. The storms will come meltdowns in public places, sleep progressions that leave you exhausted.

IEP meetings that don't go as planned, well-meaning, but really hurtful comments from relatives. These external circumstances are often. Beyond our control. But what if? What if instead of trying to control all those external forces, we are focused on creating and maintaining that calm center within ourselves.

  • Episode 11: Responding vs Reacting
    Apr 29 2025

In this episode, we dive into the powerful difference between reacting and responding as a parent, especially when it comes to those challenging, emotional moments with your autistic child.

To help you navigate these situations with more confidence and compassion, I’ll walk you through a simple three-question filter you can use when emotions run high:

    1. What is my kiddo communicating through this behavior?
Remember — behavior is communication. Are they overwhelmed? Seeking connection or control? Look beneath the surface to understand what’s really going on.
    2. What does my kiddo need from me right now?
Sometimes they need boundaries. Other times, they need comfort, help processing big emotions, or simply a safe presence. Your response should be based on their true needs, not just stopping the behavior.
    3. What would support our relationship in this moment?
Keeping your long-term goal in mind — a secure, trusting connection — helps guide your response beyond just behavior management.

Learning to respond thoughtfully instead of reacting automatically is one of the most powerful shifts we can make as parents. Let’s explore how together.

  • Micro Self-care practices
    Apr 8 2025

Welcome to Inspired Living With Autism, a podcast where we get real about raising extraordinary kids while building a life we truly love—despite the challenges autism can bring. I’m your host, Antoinette.

In this episode, we’re talking about Micro Self-care—a powerful approach for autism parents who live in a constant state of vigilance. Traditional self-care often feels out of reach or just doesn’t cut it when you’re juggling advocacy, sensory needs, and daily unpredictability.

Through my own journey with Max, I discovered that tiny moments—just seconds long—could bring surprising restoration. Micro Self-care is about reclaiming energy in the smallest ways, exactly where you are.

Let’s talk about how to find those moments and why they matter more than you think.
