About this listen

Lady Ophelia Darby exists in two worlds. In one, she is the impudent, willful daughter of a powerful marquess and darling of the ton. In the other, she moves through the underworld's shadows as songstress Lady Starlight, protected only by the notoriously wealthy scoundrel Devlin Byrne. But when she stumbles upon her beloved father's darkest secrets, the line between her two worlds quickly blurs. Now she needs the help of the one man a lady should never trust.

Devlin Byrne stands on the edge of London society, knowing he will never be accepted. No one else knows that his obscene wealth and ruthlessness aren't without purpose. Or that his purpose has golden-brown eyes that shimmer with mischief, the palest of skin, and a lush mouth that beckons to be kissed, and deeply. But having Ophelia is only the beginning of Devlin's plans.

It's undeniable that Devlin Byrne is a dangerous temptation—but just as Ophelia begins to trust him, maybe even fall for him, she discovers she's not the only one with secrets. And his would lead her down more than just the path of scandal . . .

Contains mature themes.

The best

This book is the best from this author so far, according to me. Hearthbreaking story that made me cry (this is not happening often and I red a lot of books of that genre). Mary Sarah's passionate reading helps a lot to make this story sound like an enchanting fairy tale.

Loved the story and the narrator.

Thank you Stacy for an amazing story, well worth the purchase. Please keep Mary Sarah as the narrator, she is unique and I love the way she delivers the story line. Her voice is great for both male and female. The story has some twists and turns and I love the whole childhood love story in the beginning. The book flowed flawlessly and showcased how young ladies were pushed into marrying for title and bloodline. Her father was a typical selfish aristocrat that cared little for others especially their mistresses. Well done😊

Another wonderful story to end the series

What can I say about this enchanting story of childhood sweethearts, forbidden love and love conquering all except it was beautiful! Even knowing this would end in a HEA I was still holding my breath right up till the epilog.
The only tiny blemish is the narration. Mary Sarah tends to spit her words and slur with some of the "refined" accents. it makes understanding tje words difficult. Still the story was so lovely, so well writtenso funny the sometimes poor Narration did not detract overall.
I highly recommend the entire series.

not my favorite

It started out great and sweet but quickly got old. One of the bigger mistakes is the cover depiction of her with blonde hair when she is described over and over as having thick, long, black raven hair. I had to finish it though. SR has other reads that are wonderful but this wasn't one for me.

Interesting story. Narrator not so good

The narrator did a great job with the male voices, but the female voice was breathy and annoying. I listened because I like the story.

Delightful tale

This was a delightful tale to this series and fits in well to the other story lines from this author.

Narrator was ok but seems like she had a lisp to her ending words but pleasant to listen to

Terrible narration

The story was good, I'm a sucker for a childhood friends to lovers, but the narrator almost made this unbearable to finish. I regret spending my money on this, wishing I'd just stuck with the e-book. I had to speed it up to even tolerate hearing her voice. Just awful.

UGH! Narrator is awful.

Struggling. Definitely not an easy listen. Will not listen to this narrator again. Don't these authors listen to the readings?
