About this listen

The sleepy town of Heartsdale, Georgia, is jolted into panic when Sara Linton, the town's pediatrician and coroner, finds Sibyl Adams, a young college professor, dead in the local diner. As well as being viciously raped, Sibyl has been cut: two deep knife wounds form a lethal cross over her stomach. But it's only once Sara starts to perform the postmortem that the full extent of the killer's brutality starts to become clear.

Police chief Jeffrey Tolliver, Sara's ex-husband, is in charge of the investigation, and when a second victim is found, crucified, only a few days later, he has to face the fact that Sibyl's murder wasn't a single personal attack. They're dealing with a sadistic rapist-turned-killer who is terrorizing rural Grant County.

Jeffrey isn't alone in his search. Lena Adams, the county's sole female detective, wants to see justice done since her sister was the first victim. Sara, too, cannot escape the terror. A secret from her past could hold the key to finding the killer, unless he finds her first.

Critic reviews

"Judith Ivey's expressive narration does full justice to the story....It's easy to listen to and hard to turn off." (AudioFile)
"Wildly readable....A bull's-eye, deftly crafted, damnably suspenseful and, in the end, deadly serious....Slaughter's plotting is brilliant, her suspense relentless." (The Washington Post)

Expected a little more

Unfortunately I read my first Karin Slaughter book and it was the fourth in the Grant Co. series.
I am thankful for that because it made me a fan.
This book is good but I was hoping for a little more in wY of plot.
However Iam a huge fan of Sara and Jeffrey so I am wxcited to read the rest of the series.
This book is not bad my expectations were just high...

Can't stand the accents!

The performer's interpretation of male southern accents made me want to pull my hair out. Not every man should sound like a total back country hick. It was so distracting I almost couldn't finish the book.

Good book, bad narration.

Would you listen to Blindsighted again? Why?

I did not enjoy the narrator. She made everyone sound like a backwoods hick.

What did you like best about this story?

I did enjoy the story and I will continue with the series.

Great author

The narrator was horrible. She ruined the book. I will not listen to any more books with this narrator

Riveting

Great thrill ride until the very end. Once you start this book you will not want to put it down until the very end.

Narrator is grating.

Would you listen to Blindsighted again? Why?

Not unless it were a different narrator, this person made all the men sound extremely stupid and the southern drawl, or what the narrator considered a southern drawl, made the book almost excruciating to listen to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sarah, because although she's a doctor you don't get that superiority I see so often in professionals.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Judith Ivey?

ANYBODY!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No.

Any additional comments?

I need to pay more attention to the narrator, it really makes a difference as to whether I enjoy listening or have to force myself because I paid for the book.

Grizzly murder mystery in a southern town

If you could sum up Blindsighted in three words, what would they be?

Grizzly, thoughtful, suspenseful

Would you recommend Blindsighted to your friends? Why or why not?

I enjoyed the book over all, mostly because of Judith Ivy's amazing voice and accents. The story was great in parts, but had some gaps and pieces that annoyingly, didn't quite fit together. I thought the character development was good, and it was this aspect, and the broken marriage piece, that for me, held the writing together.

Which character – as performed by Judith Ivey – was your favorite?

Sarah Linton

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Sarah's speech to Jeffrey about him not calling her after her revelation of an immense dark event in her past.

Any additional comments?

This book is the author's first. It's possible she has learned to tighten up loose ends in subsequent works. I would try another by her because I enjoy the genre and I love the south, which is where the stories are set.

First time reading Karin Slaughter

This is the first Karen slaughter book I’ve read or listen to, it was recommended by the librarian because it was the first one in the series. I liked the story but I did not care for the person narrating the story I thought the southern accents were a little extreme.

Back To The Beginning

I really enjoy going back to the first book when I've started a series in the wrong place. It's so interesting to see what I've missed about each character in the book....Now looking forward to the rest!!
