Publisher's summary

When a woman is found dead on her doorsteps—shot through the heart with an arrow—Clint Wolf and Susan Wilson go to work trying to track down the sadistic killer. On the very next day, a second victim is murdered in his driveway (killed in the same manner) and it's now a race against time to uncover the motive behind the killings and identify the murderer. What they know so far is that he's a skilled archer preying on human targets, and they have no clue where he'll strike next.

As though the case itself isn't complicated enough, the district attorney has launched a grand jury investigation into Susan's actions during a shooting that saved Clint's life. No one knows exactly why the DA is gunning for Susan, but one thing is crystal clear...it's personal.

Even better than the first book.

I must say, this series is coming together very well. I liked this even more than the first. I thought I had it all figured out early on and was thinking "how predictable" but I was wrong. Some nice surprises that I hadn't expected and I'm enjoying the character development but ugh.. The cliffhanger that we love and hate! How long will we have to wait to find out what will happen to (I can't say to whom or it will spoil it) ..?
My only problem is that the killer of Clint's wife and daughter may not go to trial because there is only circumstantial evidence. I don't understand how that can be as his wife and daughter were killed right in front of him. He's an eyewitness.. Hmm.. Maybe I missed something.. Hopefully we'll learn more about this in the next book.
As for the narrator, I can't help but really enjoy his crisp clear voice. He does a good job with all the different characters. He has a good cadence and I really appreciate that.
I do recommend this book.

I didn't see that coming

I really enjoy listening to Mr. Bennett's voice and is the reason for picking this book. He has this voice that is just right for story telling that keeps my attention throughout the book.

My first story from Mr. Bourg and I enjoyed following Clint Wolf and his team in his investigation to find the archer who is killing people and almost kills one of their own. He also deals with the grief that plagues his nights. I like Susan a lot and I wish he would pick her instead of Chloe who comes across as an insecure nag I wanted to smack a few times LOL
Good crew of secondary characters. Well plotted and intense story, I could not figure out who the killer was and I couldn't believe who it was when revealed at the end.
The ending is not a cliffhanger, but it almost left me with that feeling the way it ended. I know it is just setting it up for the next book, but I am left wondering and curious why is the district attorney going after Susan.

I received this review copy audiobook at my request and this review is voluntary.

But not forgiven

This was a very good second book in the series.Clint goes through a lot in his short time as Merchant Loop police chief. This latest case is almost as good as the first, but still leaves you wanting more. Again, J. Scott Bennett is a wonderful narrator.“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”

Clint Wolf right on target!

Another outstanding story with Chief Wolf, Chloe, Susan and all the rest in the sleepy little town where a lot of people die. Just as the author did in the first book, the characters are engaging and the story pulls you in. The plot twists are not overly cumbersome and it ends with a great set up for a third book. Can’t wait!

enjoyable

I had a hard time getting into it, because this was not the first book in the series, and I must have missed the first book. so getting to understand the relationships between the people, what was going on, and the history of the story took some time to understand. but I got it eventually and really enjoyed the book. the killer was not who I thought it was, that took me by surprise. but I think I would really like to go back and listen to the first book. I would recommend this series the writing was good and the narration was great.

Kept my attention

This was a great book. I thought the idea of using an archer was interesting. This book really keeps the reader hooked and engaged throughout. I enjoyed the suspense and mystery. This is shaping up to be a great series. I listened to the audiobook narrated by J. Scott Bennett, and he is one of my favorite narrators. He really brings the characters to life.

Wow! Just Wow!

But Not Forgiven: Clint Wolf Mystery Series, Volume 2
By: BJ Bourg Narrated by: J. Scott Bennett

After listening book one, I had to get this one! Let me sum this book up for you: Wow, just Wow! I was so shocked! I love this “Longmire” type story, and it’s even better when read by Scott Bennett. His Matthew McConaughey like southern accent brings Clint to life. This is another 5 Boundless Star book, I can’t wait to get the next one!

Is it okay to dislike Candace?

I love Clint Wolf! I love this series! I love the narration! I seriously do not like Candace, the love interest. She was annoying in the first book and now that she and Clint are together, well, this was too much Candace.

My dislike of Candace aside, this second book in the Clint Wolf series was WONDERFUL!! We get the pleasure of two mysteries with this listen and the ending for both just blew my mind! WHAT???!!!!!

I'm downloading book three now!!

Suspense, intrigue and betrayal

This is a great second book in the Clint Wolf Mystery trilogy. Betrayal, secrets, murder and intrigue will keep you enthralled. Your heart goes out to Clint as he continues to try to rebuild his life, support his officers and solve crimes, all at the same time. The characters personal and professional struggles seem real and the turns in the story are shockers. The narrator of the audiobook does an excellent job of bringing out the suspense, heartache and thrills in this story, drawing you in and making you feel their emotions. The surprises, struggles and turmoil in this story are excellent and I can’t wait for the next audiobook to come out.
