In four days, someone is going to kill me....

Detective D. D. Warren is hard to surprise. But a lone woman outside D.D.’s latest crime scene shocks her with a remarkable proposition: Charlene Rosalind Carter Grant believes that she will be murdered in four days. And she wants Boston’s top detective to handle her death investigation. It will be up close and personal. No evidence of forced entry, no sign of struggle.

Charlie tells a chilling story: Each year at 8:00 p.m. on January 21, a woman has died. The victims have been childhood best friends from a small town in New Hampshire; the motive remains unknown. Now only one friend, Charlie, remains to count down her final hours. But as D.D. quickly learns, Charlie Grant doesn’t plan on going down without a fight. By her own admission, the girl can outshoot, outfight, and outrun anyone in Boston, which begs the question: Is Charlie the next victim, or the perfect perpetrator? As D.D. tracks a vigilante gunman who is killing pedophiles in Boston, she must also delve into the murders of Charlie’s friends, racing to find answers before the next gruesome January 21 anniversary. Is Charlie truly in danger, or is she hiding a terrifying secret that may turn out to be the biggest threat of all?

In four days, someone is going to kill me. But he’s gotta catch me first.

loved it!

I haven't read a Lisa Gardner book in a long time; D.D Warrren still stands up as a great character; believable story line and both good and bad guys that you get invested in and want to know what happens to: a great read and a great narrator

Superficial storyline

Interesting storyline, but greater depth needed to adequately explain psychosis brought on by child abuse.

Gripping - Well-done

What did you love best about Catch Me?

.I liked how Charlie handled the lady and her crazy husband and how she was able to communicate with the wife in the closet with codes, and was able to detect that the crazy husband was waiting outside the door to shoot his wife. Charlie was able to detect that the crazy husband was going to shoot the detective outside the front door as well.

What other book might you compare Catch Me to and why?

None that I have read so far.

Have you listened to any of Kirsten Potter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

.Charlie's mother was a psychopath. She murdered her 2 children and traumatized the 2 that were alive.

Any additional comments?

This was a very good reader. It kept me in suspense until Detective Warren put it together about Abigail. I was concerned as to why Detective O was so hostile towards Charlie but thought she was just being a jerk. I will have to look into more works by Ms. Gardner and Ms. Potter. "Everyone has to die sometime".

Okay read, but not her best!

What made the experience of listening to Catch Me the most enjoyable?

I love the way that Lisa Gardner brings relationships into her novels. I'm always interested in the solving of the crime, but I'm also interested in the characters themselves.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting part of the story was the beginning when the character of the mother was defined and the relationship she had with her children. The least interesting was wa relationship between the two sisters.

What does Kirsten Potter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator brings a clarity of character to the people that wouldn't be there if the story was just read to oneself. She makes each character a distinct and real.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

no.
