About this listen

A recurrent, unidentifiable noise in her apartment. A memo to her boss that's replaced by obscene insults. Amanda - a successful architect in a happy marriage - finds her life going off kilter by degrees. She starts smoking again, and one night for no reason, without even the knowledge that she's doing it, she burns her husband with a cigarette. At night she dreams of a beautiful woman with pointed teeth on the shore of a blood-red sea.

The new voice in Amanda's head, the one that tells her to steal things and talk to strange men in bars, is strange and frightening, and Amanda struggles to wrest back control of her life. Is she possessed by a demon, or is she simply insane?

Disappointing

Wow that’s it? What a predictable ending… that was awful. The performance was good but the story is very very bland.

Short and intriguing

Great story with some eh moments (like this adult woman thinking she could go to jail for stealing a $4 lipstick). A couple truly shocking moments and once the horror starts it only escalates.

A compelling story.

Knew nothing about the story before listening. Really enjoyed the writing and the spooky, unexpected path it took.

Short, Entertaining Story

The pace of this story is great! Immediately you’re thrown in and the content is interesting.

It was predictable at times but overall a good listen.

Definitely lives up to its reputation!

Julie McKay, one of my favorite female narrators like Xe Sands, reads Sara Gran’a “Come Closer” with perfection! A very disturbing horror story of a successful woman happily married, beautiful home and now a “Parasite” named Nama that begins in her dreams and then in her waking world slowly becoming a dominant in a intense power struggle for her life. She wakes in naked in beds she has no idea where, who or what the hell she has done while her very patient husband begins to become less patient with her ambiguous explanations, a sometimes indifferent disposition completely unlike she really is while her currier as a elite architect in her firm begins to lose its moorings, like the rest of her life, threatening to send her life adrift in a dark ocean of complete despair while the waves smash and drown everything and everyone she knows and loves. (This is not a romance story for those like me who find that a tiresome distraction from a otherwise great book, but too focused on the love theme not the “horror” theme for it to be even a good or tolerable read!??! Just saying.)

Not my favorite, rather boring and expected

It’s a very run of the mill possession story through the eyes of someone possessed but it worded more like someone who is just a bad person covering up their wrongdoings by blaming a demon. The voice performance was very well done though.
