About this listen

In the stunning third installment of this hit fantasy adventure, a villainous tyrant at the height of her power has only two weaknesses: arrogance and love.

Everly Skolder, the self-proclaimed Empress of the world, has fully embraced her inner darkness. With sheer magical might and the assistance of her devoted followers, her influence has reached a global peak. Alongside new additions to her gang—er—inner court, like her pet rat, Matty, and the mysterious Dullahan, Everly's helping the reluctant citizens of Winstead to embrace her vision of the future . . . whether they like it or not. She's charismatic, powerful, and dangerously unstable. In short, she's the perfect villainess.

Aside from liberating (read: wiping out) an entire nation and drawing the ire of an angry pantheon of elemental gods, all of demonkind, and the former royal family of Winstead, Everly thinks she's been doing a great job at laying low. But as her ambitions grow her resources are spread thin, leaving her vulnerable to a dangerous new opponent: the insidious Ashen Knight, who shares a twisted connection to her past and a ruthless drive that matches her own.

Meanwhile, Everly's lost and resurrected maybe-love, Lady Fenneth, refuses to bow to her control—despite how nicely Everly asked. With shadowy forces aligning against them and the fate of the empire at stake, would it really kill Fenn to admit they'd be great together? Some kidnapped heroines can really hold a grudge . . .

The third volume of the hit portal fantasy series—with more than 500,000 views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

when is the next book?

that ending. like, I feel like we skipped half a book because I wanted to see some of the school life that the first book's prologue teased. but great. and with the sort of end that a sadist author loves. I would have bought a hard copy to catch up if the next book was out. Which at this point of my life is high praise.

Freaking loved it!

This book was significantly better than book 2, which honestly was kinda boring. I could have sworn I read somewhere that the Author said this was going to be a trilogy but it very obviously is not. Great book, just don’t expect it all to come to a close.

Another Fun Entry

This story does a fantastic job of introducing new elements, expanding on the previous characters and delving into the general world building. Definitely recommend it.

Morr of the Crazy ya love to read/listen

Great book. Story was great though I always find parts not with Everly harder to keep my attention. Still really good and the performance spot on. Can't wait for the next book.

Too much going on but still entertaining

I’ve been a pretty big fan of the series so far. Always preordering as soon as I can. I just love seeing an op evil lady doing whatever she wants. That said, personally I think there’s a bit too much going on at times with weird side plots that may come into play later but for now it’s just a lot to keep track of. There’s also a lot of times where the story starts to follow other characters too much in my opinion when I really just care about what Everly is doing. I’m not really a fan of the fenneth storyline I don’t get why everly cares about her. I was hugely disappointed with the introduction of the litRPG status screen thing. One of the main reasons I like this series was its lack of that. I’m hoping it was just a one off thing that everly will just refuse to acknowledge ever again. It seemed like that might be the case but then the status stuff played a pretty big role in the final chapter so it has me a little nervous for the future. Even if it is a one off the fact that it is now a canon thing in the world makes me like it less. It might not make for the most interesting storytelling but frankly I just want everly to completely destroy all these annoying side characters like the knight sooner rather than later. I’m just a shmuck who doesn’t know anything but those are my thoughts after finishing this one.

Oh yeah the narrator kills it. She’s easily one of the best. Very much captures Everly perfectly I think.

And it's still not over

I hate loving to have to wait for the next book! Gahhh! Great performance, good story, wonderfully hatable lead character. I love her but truly hope she gets what she deserves in the most epic fashion possible.

Max the Axe fixed it

It was an ok story with a bit ton of pop culture references appealing us millennials and maybe some older Gen z. JV just added some isekai and sexy scenes. Not bad but I am hooked and want to see how it all ends. If it hasn't ended anyways.

the Axe was right

The last Jedi was a horrible movie, one of the worst. Max was right.

Max the Axe

I can relate to max on the whole Star Wars, guy is spitting facts! Overall story is good, feel like not a lot of story progression happened at all, and a lot of character exposition stuffing the novel.
