Brilliant Author and Excellent Reading

What did you love best about Edgar Allan Poe?

I love Edgar Allan Poe. I haven't had the time to read anything by Poe for quite some time so hearing some of his most famous works was a breath of fresh air!

What about W.B. Ward’s performance did you like?

I have always been skeptical of audiobooks. I assumed that all readers were monotone and boring like the recordings I listened to in Elementary School. Mr. W.B. Ward was anything but monotone. His inflections and various tones really made the legendary Poe stories come to life.

Any additional comments?

Thanks to W.B. Ward's incredible performance, my opinion of audiobooks has changed and I look forward to listening to him again.

A delight for the novice or well seasoned Poe fan!

What made the experience of listening to Edgar Allan Poe the most enjoyable?

The audiobook, Edgar Allan Poe: A Menagerie from the Master of Macabre, begins with a brief bio on Edgar Allan Poe, and immediately grabbed my attention to delve deeper by way of his writings!

Any additional comments?

W. B. Ward transported this reader, from the comfort of my living room via his voice, as he retold some of the stories penned by Poe so long ago.

An amazing experience

W. B. Ward selected some of Poe's best and most popular writings for this collection. If you are a fan of Edgar Allen Poe you will enjoy this very much; if you are unfamiliar with Poe this is a great introduction to his work. The narration is excellent and true to the intent and spirit of Poe but does not distract from the story. It is easy to listen to and follow the story and the voice, tone, and rhythm of the narrator add an element of familiarity and comfort to the work without distracting or overshadowing the story. After listening to it a few times I realized that the familiarity and comfort that it inspired in me was reminiscent of my enjoyment listening to Paul Harvey. Not to say tha he sounds like Paul Harvey, but that I enjoy listening to WB Ward in much the same manner as I enjoyed listening to Paul Harvey. After listening to this product I am looking forward to future works and will be purchasing some existing works of WB Ward and I encourage you to as well!
