Publisher's summary

Murdering his way through a string of women in the swamps of Baton Rouge, Jon Walker made a notorious name for himself as the Bayou Butcher. But his reign of terror ended when US Marshal Anthony Ross and District Attorney Lauren Chandler put the crazed killer away for multiple lifetimes…and discovered they shared a passion for more than just justice.

Five years later, after duty has driven Lauren and Anthony apart, the Butcher breaks out of prison, ready to get back to his deadly business - beginning with Lauren. But he's not the only man who's back in Lauren's life: Anthony is heading up the manhunt…and hoping to reclaim the woman he never stopped loving.

With bodies falling and death closing in, there’s nothing Anthony won't do to keep Lauren safe in his arms - and keep her blood off the Butcher's hands.

Cynthia Eden is a genius

One of my favorite authors. Amazing plot, amazing characters, and amazing sensuality. Highly recommend and love the narration.

Another solid story

Solid story. Like the first book in the trilogy, the second is a bit redundant and drags a bit at times because of it. It has a good plot though and well written characters. If you are looking for a steamy thriller, this one has some NSFW scenes that will leave you fanning yourself. The plot drives the story, not the explicit scenes. I liked it enough I bought the third book. I would recommend.

The Marshall is no better than the killers.

Controlling. Phyco. angry. Possessive. Impulsive. The love making parts made my skin crawl. I only continued listening because I thought the Marshall was the second killer. Run Lauren! Run!

Good Story

I liked the story but the obscene language was unnecessary and distracting. Would have been better without it.

Kept me guessing

Killer was one of three suspects I targeted. Didn't find out til end. Didn't much like the constant reference to love/lust for DA. Overall good listen/story.

Exciting to the end

I could not stop listening to this book, and it kept me guessing to the end. The characters were believable and could be related to. However, the narration was terrible. The narrator's reading voice was pleasant but her character voices were really bad. All the men sounded mean and nasty, even when speaking words of love and the women's voices were even worse. If the story hadn't been so gripping I would have given up on the book.

Just ok story line

It’s not awful. I know some love this author and I keep giving these books a try and it’s always just kind of a take it or leave it experience. Nothing really sticks with me. The narrator really overdoes some lines and I kept thinking no one really talks this way! lol. But I like books for escapism so they don’t have to be Tolstoy or Dickens or the like. Just entertaining. It was entertaining but I could take it or leave it, like I said.

It was okay.

Would you try another book from Cynthia Eden and/or Emily Beresford?

Yes, but I think I will read the next one and see if it was the narration or the story that bugged me. There were many places in the story line that I felt had giant, neon signs pointing out the next victim or plot point. I did like the suspense elements and the Bayou location. I found the bad guy appropriately creepy and unlike some of the other listeners, I thought the romance was well done.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Emily Beresford?

Maybe. I have listened to narrators that I disliked MUCH more than I disliked Ms. Breseford. There was just something about her reading that prevented me from enjoying this book. The male voice was too aggressive, some of the southern accents didn't make sense, and some characters came across as really angry/hysterical for no reason.

Was Fear for Me worth the listening time?

Yes, but just barely. I had to keep after myself to finish this one.

Very gripping.

This was a wonderful book with several different twists and turns that have you biting your nails. And just when you think it's one person it ends up being another.
I definitely recommend this book.
