Publisher's summary

A stand-alone paranormal murder mystery inspired by a disturbing true story....

Two years ago, Gloria Cline had the worst night of her life. A music festival deep in the woods near the Porcupine Mountains turned deadly when Gloria and her best friend, Wren, went for a night walk.

Twenty-four hours later, Gloria was found barely clinging to life with a horrific story of being abducted and nearly murdered.

No trace of Wren was ever found.

Today, Gloria has walled herself into a safe world that relies on routine and familiarity. She doesn’t leave her apartment—ever.

But somehow evil has gotten in....

When another young woman vanishes, Gloria realizes her hazy recollection of her own near-murder may hold the keys to finding the woman before she suffers a similar fate.

Don't miss this chilling paranormal murder mystery.

A Good Read.

I'm a J.R. Erickson fan and didn't realize it. When I look at my library, yup. I've listen to many of her stories. There were moments when I stopped. looked around to make sure I was safe. That's how thrilling it gets at times. Gloria's recount of how the PTSD and agoraphobia affect her is so hard breaking. It was a good book, although I thought a bit rushed at the end. Seemed like Detective Webb had a lot of responses, but questions still remained. Like how did Kelly know to look where she did? How did Jeff know when Gloria was at the cabin? Why did the cops not notice the guy following the girls in the pictures? Why hide Kelly, but not Wren? Why leave Wren exposed for someone to find her? How does Glo not know about Gwen? Still a good read.

Good Read

This book was entertaining and kept me listening. I have listened to many of Erickson's books. This wasn't one of the best, but worth the time.

Great read

LOVED this book. Perfect blend of mystery and the paranormal. Heartbreaking plot, amazing character development. Kept me guessing to the very end. This narrator is one of my favorites. Every book I read from this author is even better than the previous one. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

Love this story

I think this is my favorite in the series so far! I loved the characters and the story. It also kept me guessing until towards the end. Rich with beautiful detail and also great empathy and understanding of some of the difficulties the main character had. Ready to read the next one :)

The ending was definitely a surprise!

The story starts off right to the point and I love when a story tells me what I’m expecting immediately. The story is sad, but inspiring as well. I definitely recommend it and also to learn the back story to the book.

The narrator!

I absolutely loved the narrator on this one! She literally gave each character it’s own voice and I was able to picture them in my mind. Many times I forgot it was only one narrator lol… now onto the book itself! I loved this one just I loved her other books HOWEVER the main character annoyed tf outta me! Is there a reason why the main characters can’t ever just be honest with ppl? Like boo so much could be avoided if you wld just open up to the ppl who are literally trying to help you! Other than that it was a good book.

Keeps you listening.

I loved this book from beginning to end! There were no slow moments like there have been in many books I’ve listened to. The characters and their actions were described so well and the narrator was phenomenal! You won’t be disappointed. I hope you have Elizabeth Phillips narrate more of your stories.

Great story and narration

I appreciated the telling of how one can be affected by an assault and battery, and resilience to cope and overcome in our own way. I loved that the author
brought in elements of mystery, supernatural, friendship, and love.
The ending was an excellent closure. I loved the narrator! Her voice was clear and easy to listen to.
I will keep both in mind for the future!

Unusual, compelling story

This is a great ghost story. Or, a thriller. Or, a story of great healing. It's an amazing combination of each of these. Of note is the narrator, who read difficult matter in a very realistic way. That's an awkward statement, I know. I will absolutely look for her again. I'm already a fan of the author!
