About this listen
Fast-paced psychological thriller!
A madman is on the loose in Texas. Two homicide detectives in Fort Worth are on the hunt for a sadistic serial killer who enjoys toying with his prey. For You Have Sinned is an exploration of good and evil, cause and effect, and crime and punishment--in this life and the next. It's a popular thought that those who commit bad deeds now will suffer endlessly for them later. But to one jaded soul, the next life is not punishment enough.

Story
Like millions of Americans, Dr. John VanDuyne is stunned to watch President Tom Winston announce his plans to legalize narcotics in a radical bid to destroy the power of the drug cartels. Especially since, as Winston’s personal physician and a government health spokesman, VanDuyne might have expected some prior warning. And now he’s going to be right in the firing line when the uproar begins. For President Winston, his daring plan could turn out to be political suicide. For VanDuvne, it’s going to be much worse than that.

In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Story
Ike Randolph has been out of jail for fifteen years, with not so much as a speeding ticket in all that time. But a Black man with cops at the door knows to be afraid. The last thing he expects to hear is that his son Isiah has been murdered, along with Isiah’s white husband, Derek. Ike had never fully accepted his son but is devastated by his loss. Derek’s father Buddy Lee was almost as ashamed of Derek for being gay as Derek was ashamed his father was a criminal. Buddy Lee still has contacts in the underworld, though, and he wants to know who killed his boy.

It's been said that all great literature boils down to one of two stories—a man takes a journey, or a stranger comes to town. While mystery writers have been successfully using both approaches for generations, there's something undeniably alluring in the nature of a stranger: the uninvited guest, the unacquainted neighbor, the fish out of water. In the newest collection of stories by the Mystery Writers of America, each author weaves a fresh tale surrounding the eerie feeling that comes when a stranger enters our midst, featuring stories by prolific mystery writers.

Story
It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

Story
My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Action Packed Suspense!
Gruesome and gritty serial killer story with so much more. Keeps you guessing and gives you the guilty pleasure of rooting for the “bad” guy. Hope there’s a sequel. Narration was amazing! Every character had a voice and a personality. Very impressed.

The story & narration are excellent!
It was a creative story. My husband and I both thought it was a great listen while on a recent, long road trip. I especially enjoyed the narration throughout. The author is the narrator and voices all of the characters. A++++++

A sage plunge into a tale of a savage con and its deliverance.
I am reviewing the audible version of "For You Have Sinned." I found this tale particularly familiar as the setting and characterizations, for better or worse, are authentic to my own landscape. It jolts you with visceral descriptions of torturous intent while exposing the ruinous hypocrisies that zealotry and its children deliver. It's engaging and riveting throughout while the author, who voiced this edition, shows his talent for the cadence and melody for voices which he clearly has first-hand experience.

Smooth & Clear voice… Unique talent
Hearing the author narrate and then learning that he also did all the voices of the characters in his book gave me a more appreciation for his work and love of storytelling.
Clifford showcases not only his talent in writing, narrating, but his love of expression in the work he did with this book.

A RARE GEM!
Clifford is like a modern day Dickens here. Edwards has created incredibly vivid characters and even brings their surroundings to life with his descriptive style of writing. The story grabs you from the first sentence and never lets go. His reading of the book is superb as he nails the accents and even languages of each individual character. Destined to be a movie some day soon I HIGHLY recommend listening to this one. With any luck we'll get a sequel.

The author’s imagination and intelligence…
Retribution, justice, entertainment, surprise, suspense and desperately trying to figure out the plot each chapter! I’m a Christian and a Texan. I’ve seen and been to these towns

Amazing Performance! Loved it!
This audiobook sucked me in with the first line. The story was great, though a bit gruesome at times. The character development was perfect. I actually felt sorry for some of the worst characters because I learned what events created them. The narrator (also the writer) brought the story to life through accents and different voices. It’s really nice to listen to a true voice actor rather than the monotone narrators I sometimes get. I highly recommend “For You Have Sinned” and I will probably listen to this one a few more times to catch all the things I might have missed.

Gripping
Exciting, fast moving story that held my interest until the end. The narrator was excellent with a voice that was easy to listen to and added to the experience.
