About this listen

We join Montana, recently returned from an impromptu study abroad trip, a bit wiser, a bit broader in perspective, and a lot freaked out by the once-dead person who's currently in his bedroom.

Possible zombie sightings aside, he's finally ready to take his job as Duke seriously. And just in time too - not only are the politics of the capital rapidly closing in on Montana's little valley holding, but there are also goblins to negotiate with. Plus, that cult threatening to take the lives of his citizens.

Montana will have to pull off the impossible - walk amongst the highest levels of Vuldranni society to influence world politics, and slaughter a few goblins in the process.

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. A fun rump with our muscle brained hero.

A fun ride, better than the previous book. Felt like the author had more fun writting this one. I enjoyed it and its price was acceptable.

More fun

Same as usual. More of the fun enjoyment we get out of this series. Yeah, there are some pretty dumb moments and a couple language inconsistencies (such as non-earth people referring to Greek Fire), but all in all, pretty good.

Gods he is dumb

I'm really starting to hate how he never uses his skills in a meaningful way.

Clyde the vampire slayer lol

Let’s gooooooooo. Clyde can’t help but get in trouble I mean no matter what he does. Really enjoyed the character development and the true inclusion of more stories. It’s fun

I like when he rips people's heads off.

I feel like they miss a lot of stuff they have put into the story. like he actually never uses the gifts he gets from the gods. the books and attribute points he got for some of his followers. he still hasn't even brought that up. I still enjoy it. I just want him to get stronger like the gods keep telling him to.

Still going strong

I got into the lit RPG genre a couple years ago in am consuming every good title I can find. One thing I’ve noticed is that after two or three books in a series they become uninteresting. The character stops growing or advancing and it becomes something other than what made the early books interesting. This series has kept my interest. The Duke keeps growing in all ways and therefore I keep listening. I think my favorite character in fictional books is still good old James McGill. However the Duke of Cogshall (sp?) is climbing in the rankings.

Great book and sorta ok ending

I liked the book by itself, like I think it was good writing, and progression, but it is very little progression in the grand scheme of things, if Eric’s books were 13 hours instead of 9 they would be so much better. I wish we could’ve heard more about the town progression, but I guess there was a bit of progression. Weird tho. Get the book cuz you’re into the series, but if you can wait, wait till the next book and listen to them both.
