A thrilling and fictionally historic depiction of the early 1910’s

Don Holbrook and his group of artists had me tuned in throughout a 28 hour car ride. I look forwarded to every new chapter and thought the flow was incredible. Every character was well captured by the voices of the artists and the story felt like I was watching a movie. Brilliantly done and would recommended to anyone interested in an audio book.

these guys are into food

overall this is an enjoyable historical fiction. it goes from very broad strokes into excruciating detail frequently. I feel like it would have been better if they cut out about half the adventures and about 80% of the descriptions of the main characters meals.

Historical, Action-Packed

Ghost, a member of the Tejamo family becomes a hero when he fights against the corrupt Texas Rangers and helps to foil the plans of the Germans actively seeking ways to keep the US from entering World War I.

The author, Don Allen Holbrook, brings to light several historically accurate events and incidents that few know but greatly impacted the residents at the border of Texas and Mexico. Holbrook is a skillful storyteller captivating his listeners from start to finish. His characters are well-developed, with situations that feel authentic to the narrative and reflect the historical records. His writing style is clear and immersive for the listener. His narrative flows smoothly and is rich with details.

The narrators, Scott Brick, Paul Michael, Thorn Rivera, Cassandra Campbell, and Nathalia Hencker, are excellent. They work well together and perform well as their cadence and delivery are similar. They speak clearly and concisely while projecting appropriate emotions of the situations and characters.

This is a gripping tale of one man’s fight for fairness and justice in a system of corruption.
