Publisher's summary

From USA Today best-selling author Rina Kent comes a new stand-alone dark romance about a villain and his new obsession.

I caught the attention of a monster.

I didn’t ask for it. Didn’t even see it coming.

But the moment I do, it’s too late.

Killian Carson is a predator wrapped in sophisticated charm.

He’s cold-blooded, manipulative, and savage.

The worst part is that no one sees his devil side.

I do.

And that will cost me everything.

I run, but the thing about monsters?

They always chase.

This book is a dark unconventional romance and contains themes that aren't to everyone's liking. Please check the author's note in the ebook for content warnings before listening.

Loved the book, hate the audiobook

I read the book first and loved it. I got the audiobook bc it was on sale. I normally LOVE Rina’s narrator picks but not this one.

I love Sebastian but he is too mature to be a 19 year old, it was a ridiculous choice. And he has such a hard time adding a British accent everytime he needs to…..I couldn’t tell what accent it ended up being but it definitely wasn’t British.

The female narrator was okay, but she had the same awful time adding an American accent when needed….it came off as nasally and valley-girl when it was Kill she was reading for.

I’m glad that Rina switched to dual-narration for her latest in this series…..I hate it took her three books of doing it wrong to finally have the lightbulb moment of doing it right.

Definitely read this book instead, it’s likely you will have a different outlook on the story overall.

Unconventional Love is still Love

This book starts with a warning because it is not for everyone. That is a warning to pay attention to. This books is dark and depraved in many ways and unleashes what is hiding behind the mask of human feelings. This story brings together two people from completely different worlds. Killian knows he is different from others and is tired of hiding his true self behind the mask and is ready to drop all the facades and allow his true nature to take over. Glyndon is more the prim and proper type always looking to find peace and avoid arguments. These two opposites find themselves together in an unpredictable way. Killian's obsessive nature forces Glyndon to start to see possibilities she wasn't ready to accept or voice.
This book shows what love can do for someone when they can feel comfortable enough to drop all pretenses and truly be themselves. This book is the brutal nature of humans that is often unseen.
The narrators all did a fantastic job bringing this story to life. You could feel the change in emotions through their vocals.

Keep them coming!

Rina does a good job showcasing people with different types of sexual desires in her books. If you are not familiar with her writing please check trigger warnings.

I really liked this book and was happy to hear about the past couples and their progression. I like that the characters are aware of their issues and the females don’t sound whinny or torturous.

Good story

Not to sound like a broken record but wish Killian sounded like a 19 year old, it took away from the story with him sounding like a grandpa. Other than that I loved it like all of Rina's books

I see the appeal, but not for me

I keep seeing this book in every romance reading group I am in. I bought it on sale. I was excited to read it. Definitely recommend reading the contact warnings at the beginning because the story starts off with a non-consensual scene that was really off putting.

While I can usually handle a gray character/villain, who is open and honest about their shortcomings and evil ways, the relationship between these two just didn’t work for me.

Audio was fantastic, and the narration was top-notch. And I can see the appeal of this type of romance, but I don’t think it was for me. I would’ve stopped reading, except there was a small mystery element that made me push through the story. I don’t think I’ll be going back and finishing the series though.

True nature

Loved this story! Gwen was getting on my nerves at first by questioning him on everything. This was a great read and I love that Kill never changed his ways just tuned them a little. Will read more!

My first Rina Kent’s book!

God of Malice is my first Rina Kent’s book. I know there is a reading order I need to start with before I get to the children but oh well…
The story is definitely heard too many times before. Unhinged possessive MMC and virgin living in denials FMC. I find myself despite being in Glyndon’s head. However, Killian’s part is what saved the book for me. My favorite part tho is *spoiler* how Nikolai thought Glyndon was Brandon and got sad when it’s not the right one and how he kept asking to sleep with Glyndon so he could experience the closest thing to Brandon. Cannot wait for their book!
The narration is okay. The casting of Sebastian is definitely wrong. When I hear his voice, all I can think of is middle age grumpy millionaires or small town heros from his other books. His voice is too old for a 19 year old unhinged bully. Levi and Asher’s voices are younger sounding, which is ridiculous considering them the dads. Maybe Joe Arden would have been a better cast?!? Or even better, get Jacob Morgan/Zachary Webber!
Anyways, moving on to Annika and Creighton!
