Lengthy book could use being consolidated

The content I believe was great, but it was very redundant and I believe it could have been much more concise and consolidated. By 1/2 way I found myself wanting to skip through big chunks of the book as I felt the information had already been addressed.

Informative and Helpful

I enjoyed this book and learning about how to have a healthy gut. I am looking forward to trying the program Dr. Ruscio recommends to restore health. Would recommend reading if you suspect you have a gut imbalance or even if you are just not feeling your best self. I appreciate the integrative/functional medicine approach. Not everything can be fixed by simply taking a pill.

Finally someone who can help!!!

This is the answer to my gut problems! I have SIBO, Leaky Gut and a whole host of systemic symptoms from it. I have known for a long time that herbal antimicrobial treatment is the next step in healing my gut. But the information online is so scattered, unreliable and daunting that I couldn't get started. Now I have the knowledge and confidence to move forward in my healing journey. I first purchased the physical book. It's very long and detailed. I knew I wasn't going to make it through the information without an audio. Thank you, Audible and Dr. Ruscio, for making this available in a format my ADHD brain can absorb. I am glad I have the book too, so I can skim and review the steps and write out my plan. I am looking forward to feeling better!

Finally someone I feel like I can trust

If you suspect that you may have gut issues causing whatever your health manifestations, give this book a try. It is the first time I have been confident and clear about the steps I'm taking to address my health issues.

My functional/traditional medicine doctors haven't helped me, plain and simple, and I'm sure they meant well. I'm thousands in the hole, and worse yet, it's meant 15 years of getting nowhere and feeling like crap. Therefore I haven't truly trusted a doctor maybe ever to help me with my autoimmune/inflammation/gut abyss.

Enter Dr. Ruscio. Why I like and trust Dr. Ruscio:

1. He seems to give an f about helping people.

2. He's done an amazing job of creating a clear, simplified, linear plan that you can seemingly follow regardless of where your gut health may be. Usually simple seems too good to be true, but..

3. He appears hyper-focused on what the latest science says and states that it dictates his advice and treatment/protocol. I can't and don't want to spend the time trying to validate the accuracy of the science he references, but he goes further than any other doctor I've seen to reference this stuff, so I'm inclined to believe him.

4. He appears to be dynamic and change his treatment protocol as needed to fit the recommendations of the latest "trustworthy science" (again, I'm taking his word for it)

5. He seems transparent and low on conflicts of interest-Im always a little skeptical of people who market their own products/supplements. But if you make your stuff because it's specifically designed to fit the specs of what science recommends and is priced reasonably, that seems fair.

6. He's an independent thinker and challenges status quo and ineffective procedure-is skeptical of a lot of the functional med labs/tests out there, as he feels the accuracy generally is just not there yet. He uses the science where it's most helpful but also asks you to listen to your body as he believes that to be more reliable data than some inaccurate lab test.
He challenges and exposes a lot of views and protocols that haven't historically shown results has refreshing insights on treatment as a whole and does a great job of easing you into understanding the gut in a more relatable, simplified way.

7. I thought I tried everything, but this book exposed me to many things I hadnt heard or thought of like the Elemental diet.

KEY Takeaways for me-Probiotiocs as Dr R recommends, Low FODMAP diet/Lifestyle/7-8hrs sleep/Elemental diet if needed. Be patient as the body adjusts.

Thank you Dr. Ruscio. I'm not at the top of the mountain yet, but your book is helping me to keep going. I don't write book reviews but felt
like I needed to for this one.

Awesome book

Very well laid out. Great resource to alleviate the gut issues. I wish there was a pdf for action plan.

Conclusions at the end of the chapters

Way to much rigamarole and was slow getting to the point (repetitive and too much talk about the inconsistencies with studies). I think the reason for that is to warm people up to his core point that gut problems take time to fix rather than spending time and money on testing most people will not gain any useful info since their problem is not clinical but lifestyle induced. Just take your time and work through it with guidance (his plan) or using an FNT (that is someone whom you pay to guide you through the process). The summaries at the end of the chapters was most helpful for me since I already am aware of the arguments presented in the chapters that lead up to the summaries. I am powering through the book this way and saving time. Not quite done but will be done using the book this way. If you need all the extra info then listen to the chapters just be aware that the first 3-5 chapters are so repetitive that I thought I was had inadvertently was relistening to previously heard chapters.

Protracted

I found this book to have poor structure and was very repetitive. It was hard to piece together the important information I was looking for.

Redundant

The author says the same thing over and over and tells us nothing. A few chapters in, I deleted the book from my library.
