Publisher's summary

Three billion people died the day the Veech appeared.

Forced to reconcile with the world-shattering fact that humanity isn’t alone in the cosmos, the resulting war for the future of mankind shaped humanity’s destiny and challenged it to grapple with its place in the universe.

For the men and women who survived Invasion Day and the devastating war that followed, their stories paint a picture of the everyday struggle and experiences of the regular folk who carved out a living at a time when the very future of our species was uncertain.

Delve into their stories. Through riveting interviews with ordinary people from all walks of life, Invasion Day explores the human experience and how humans found the strength to keep going when everything they loved was at stake.

These are their stories.

Very Well Done

I don’t write many reviews but I wanted to take a moment and let anyone reading this know this was a very well done “oral history” type of book. If you are into Sci Fi/alien invasion genre give this a try … a great collection of stories.

A fun view of different impacts

This book was different, seemingly a continuous story but also reads like a collection of short stories. As one man talks to many different people to tell a story of what happened from the bystanders perspective. The persons who was impacted by the big thing that happened to the world, not the ones who did it or were fighting against it.

You never really get info on the people talking; you don't know them deeply, rarely getting descriptions, and the time spent hearing from them is short. We are getting glimpses into the lives of different places in time and seeing a history we rarely see told in stories. Even in today's world with our tragedy's and events.

I think it is worth reading. It was a nice change from the standard sci-fi story with the hero and villain, a clear distinction of the technology spelled out for you as you came across it. Instead, you learned as the people did, some knowing more than others.

I truly did enjoy the change from my normal books.

I was given a copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary and reflects my true feelings and opinions.

Invasion Day

At first I wasn't sure about listening to this book, written as a series of interviews with many different characters. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised.

The author has done a good job introducing the reader to a character, then having them tell their story in an interesting, engaging and emotional way. Each character shares a different perspective of their part in the Veech War.

The narrators did a great job and their performances added a lot to my enjoyment of this audio book. I would love to know more about some of these characters and more about the War and its aftermath. I hope that the author writes more in this series. I was given the chance to listen to this audiobook by the author/publisher/narrator and chose to review it.

Well written, kept me guessing.

The actors were really well chosen and having the different perspectives was a cool way to consume the book with all the pieces slowly being put together.

I’d recommend it to anyone who loves war or sci-fi. Can’t wait for his next book

Worth a listen. Will leave you wanting more.

It was well done from an interview aspect, getting stories here and there. You don't get the whole picture or all the answers of why and how but it's strangely okay not to know.

It would be a great prequel into a bigger series that would actually allow more character depth and suspense. An easy listen with decent sized chapters that can be paused whenever and not leave you confused when you pick it up again.

I love sci-fi and one got me hooked.

Great yarn, teasing out what those Veech are through the memories of those who have first contact with them, reliving the horror of the invasion bit by bit. I love it.
