Publisher's summary

Loved it!

I knew the film version of the story, which I love, but the book is so much more!
The narration by Éric Herson-Macarel is absolutely perfect, his voice suits the story beautifully!
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an epic story, a classic, or just something to read.
And if you are learning french (as I am) this is a great book to try, I was reading along with the free ebook.
My only complaint is that there’s no information regarding the music, I would love to get the song that plays at the end of both parts, but have no idea what it’s called.

Viviam

Beau roman.

Fantastic performance

The reader excellent. the Best I ve ever listened. The story feels a little diluted sometimes, as writers used to, to make money.

Superlative

Romantic, wonderfully dramatic, and unselfconscious and unreserved in a way that almost no modern literature is. Apparently Dumas got paid by the line, but it worked to beautiful effect in this marvelous novel. A major investment in time, but by the time it’s done, you’ll feel every second was well spent. Stunning performance, stunning writing. Just wonderful

The best!

I read this book in French 10 years ago, and then listened to this
Marvelous recording, which was an even richer experience!

Possibly my favorite book of all time

So far, this is the only novel I've come across on Audible that is in two separate parts. Yep, it's a really long book. I love Dumas, but this is the first time that I have read " Le comte de Monte Cristo." It was wonderful. The performer is very good. I hope that any English language version on Audible is equally enjoyable. M. Eric Herson-Macarel reads clearly, has a beautiful speaking voice, and uses enough variation between characters to make it interesting without overdoing it. As for the story, I think it is probably Dumas' best work and one of the best novels I've read in English or French. Vive Dumas!
