Say yes to what matters by saying no to what doesn’t!

If you’re like most people, saying no probably makes you feel uncomfortable. Eventually, you will feel overwhelmed by all the things you said yes to but didn’t really want to do. This can lead to unnecessary stress and anxiety, ruined relationships, a lack of identity, and burnout.

All of these could have been avoided if you had just said no. But that’s easier said than done, especially since there are emotions and social expectations involved in all our interactions. So, how do you say no when it makes you (and, maybe, others) feel bad?

In Master of the Arts: Excel at Saying No, you will discover:

  • How to set healthy boundaries with close friends, family, and romantic partners without feeling guilty about it
  • A simple change in wording that will make it less challenging to refuse someone who asks you for a favor
  • How to respond to your boss without sounding like you’re avoiding additional work or shirking from your responsibilities
  • Seven common mistakes that could backfire on you when trying to politely turn down an invitation or refuse a request
  • The sneaky tactics people use to manipulate you that make it harder for you to say no and how you can recognize and deftly counter them
  • And much more

There’s no need to be afraid of sounding harsh or seeming selfish. You don’t have to change your personality or how you deal with people. You just have to shift your mindset and your priorities. It’s not about saying no to others; it’s about saying yes to yourself.

Find out what’s truly important to you and say yes to only these things. You’ll find yourself with a lot more time to focus on what really matters in your life.

If you want to take back control of your life by saying no without feeling bad about it, then you need this audiobook today!

A helpful listen for taking back our time

Let’s face it. Saying no to others is difficult. We all want to look good, keep other people happy, and develop a reputation for being someone others can trust. But when we continually refuse to say no, we often do so at our own expense. We sacrifice our time, finances, and sanity, and sometimes even put a strain on the relationship with the person to whom we’re saying “yes.”

This audiobook first shows us what that strain can do to us, then it shows us how to confidently take our time back from all these commitments, without sacrificing our relationships and without coming off as inconsiderate. It has some pretty good insights in it. I enjoyed hearing many of those. It’s a good listen and one that I would recommend.

I'm DONE with saying YES!

Some people don't have a hard time saying no, but because I'm a people pleaser, I think it's really difficult to tell someone no. That's the reason I wanted to listen to this book, in hopes of getting some advice to change my ways.

I will definitely be setting some boundaries with friends, but my boss as well. This book also talks about the 7 common mistakes people make when trying to turn down an invitation. Well, I'm definitely guilty of consistently making 2 of the 7 common mistakes. I now know how to change this! Recommend!

Very motivating

the wonderful and practical information helps to motivate me to overcome my worst enemy at times which is myself. sometimes I don't realize that I hold the keys to my own prison, and need to be reminded that although to be liked by others, doesn't mean that I'm to be a slave to others when they ask me to do something. this gives the information that anyone can use to set themselves free of the high demands and expectations that we can have on ourselves and learn to say no. it's nice to be able to do it without being handcuff to any guilty feelings and this gives you the insight to do so and the right way of thinking about it that we don't always think about and some good and practical tools that we can use that can change the way we think about things that keep us trapped into feeling like we have to say yes instead of saying no. 😊 I this practical knowledge can be useful and practical for just about anyone to improve themselves in a lot of different ways with a better mindset and a more quality life that this very practical information has to offer. thank you.

Practical, Empowering, Insightful

Bought this as friends had family had said I'm too much of a people pleaser -- which I agree with. I tend to bend to other people's whims too easily, and rarely stand up for myself or my desires, often to my own detriment. I bought this title with the hope of developing some tools for overcoming this tendency to say "yes", and wow was it a great decision!

After listening, I am finding myself being more assertive with others, not only about my preferences, but with my thoughts. Most surprisingly, I am finding myself comfortable with disagreeing with others, which I wasn't before. Master of the Arts: Excel at Saying No is as much a manual on self autonomy as it is self esteem. The author helps the listener identify sources of self esteem, and how to overcome deficiencies through various techniques.

The narrator is engaging, easy to understand, and doesn't lose the listener's attention even in longer passages. For anyone looking for an effective and empowering audiobook for becoming more assertive with their own voice/preferences, I would absolutely recommend Master of the Arts: Excel at saying no!

Super Helpful Book!

If only i had this book earlier in life. It took me while to firmly say no. This book helped me by giving different ways to say no, keep my confidence, be assertive and gave me plenty of examples to work it out. I found this book extremely helpful. One of the hardest thing that someone can say is “no.” It’s saddening that there are types of people who suffer from such inconveniences and sometimes sacrifice because they are afraid to reject a person, a situation, or something that is uncomfortable for them but inevitable. We all know how relatable this moment is. Too often, we forget ourselves because of focusing to others – which result of being taken advantage of sometimes.
If you are the type of person who just says “yes” in all that life has to offer even when you are down and uncomfortable, then this book is a must-read for you. This book taught me to communicate better and to express what I truly feel for something that I have no intention to do in the first place.

Saying No

I could have benefitted from this book years ago! It took me a long time to learn how to say no. I have mostly learned it by now, It's just something that can still make me uncomfortable. Those of us that are helpers are prone to this, unfortunately.

This book really nails it. Not only does the author give you all the different ways to say no with confidence, while being assertive in a firm but gracious way, he gives plenty of examples of how it could play out. He also goes over what the person might say, how they might respond, etc while giving you tools to navigate the conversation.

Dr. Young shows his clinical expertise by giving you workable exercises, teaching you the benefits of successfully saying no, such as having more control of your life, being more respected, improving your personal and professional life, and being more assertive.

I highly recommend this book to help you, as it helped me, personally and professionally.

Say Yes to this Audiobook and NO to everyone else!

I actually listened to this book because I have "friends' in my life that just get so worn down and feel used by others because they just don't know how to say NO! This book is going to be their Christmas gift! I liked all the examples given of possible scenarios and responses, also the way most of screw up when trying to get out of something. There is a proper way, that maintains your dignity and integrity and this book helps you find that. ALso liked the summaries at the end of the chapter- a lil reminder of what you just heard. Highly recommend!
