About this listen
But there's an obstacle in his path that this warrior hadn't planned on. Amanda Blanton Kerr, the daughter of a ruthless industrialist, is on a mission of her own; passionate, obstinate, and whip-smart, she's an heiress poised to blaze a trail for all women.
O'Hara's Choice is the story of the inevitable collision of these two handsome, fighting spirits, in which getting their souls' desires could jeopardize everything they, and their parents before them, scraped and struggled to achieve.

Story
It was a time of crisis, a time of tragedy - and a time of transcendent courage and determination. Leon Uris’s blazing novel is set in the midst of the ghetto uprising that defied Nazi tyranny, as the Jews of Warsaw boldly met Wehrmacht tanks with homemade weapons and bare fists. Here, painted on a canvas as broad as its subject matter, is the compelling story of one of the most heroic struggles of modern times.

Story
Gideon Zadok arrives in Israel with every intention to research a new book, mend a broken marriage, and improve his dysfunctional family. But as political tensions escalate and his family is evacuated, Zadok asks to follow Israeli paratroopers to secure Mitla Pass and finds himself in the midst of one of the largest global crises of the twentieth century. A sweeping novel of love, passion, and freedom, Mitla Pass stands as an epic look at modern Middle Eastern history and is quite possibly Uris’s most autobiographical work.

Story
Exodus is an international publishing phenomenon - the towering novel of the 20th century's most dramatic geopolitical event. Leon Uris magnificently portrays the birth of a new nation in the midst of enemies - the beginning of an earthshaking struggle for power. Here is the tale that swept the world with its fury: the story of an American nurse, an Israeli freedom fighter caught up in a glorious, heartbreaking, triumphant era. Here is Exodus - one of the great best-selling novels of all time.

O'Hara's Choie
This paticular book is great. It is especially excellent for those that want to know about the "Old Corps". The story does remind me of Web Griffin. Many interconnecting people - well woven. Kept me interested.

Technical Difficulties
The book was a bit disjointed and superficial (unlike so many other Leon Uris books which I have really enjoyed.) My biggest complaints, however, were with the recording: 1)some sections seemed to be spliced in out of order--making things quite confusing and 2) on several occasions, I could hear someone laughing in the background.

Disappointing
This is a love story with relatively small ties to the USMC. As a champion of other Leon Uris novels, this was by far my least favorite. If you want a love story this is for you. If you are looking for USMC in action, this is sorely missing.

Not usual
Wasn't particularly interesting. Story kept losing me, wasn't stringed up well & couldn't identify with any of the characters.

Disappointing
I've read his other books and enjoyed them but this one was disappointing. It went on and on and on very little character development pretty superfluous in general.

What did you like best about O'Hara's Choice? What did you like least?
The dialog was trite, it was to much like a television screenplay then a novel.
If you’ve listened to books by Leon Uris before, how does this one compare?
This is the first audiobook from this author; I have read most of this authors' books from Exodus to Chesapeake, He was an inspirational writer: I emphsize the word "was". Compared to Texas this was a disaster.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I have heard better narration from audiobooks by Jim Butcher, Dean Koontz, Terry Pratchett and others. I have library of over two hundred plus in number and this was one of the worst I have listened to.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No, if it were a television mini-series I might watch it.
Any additional comments?
I have listened to it on three separate occasions and I wish that I had purchased something else from my wish list. I am a retired educator and Anthropologist, reading his earlier books gave me the inspiration to become an Archaeologist: I am glad this was not the first book I had read by Uris, if it had been, I would have become a Stockbroker.
