Publisher's summary

Only Rage - A Sadie Price FBI Suspense Thriller, Book 2 is a chilling new audiobook by mystery and suspense author Rylie Dark, which begins with Only Murder, Book 1.

Special Agent Sadie Price, a 29-year-old rising star in the FBI’s BAU unit, stuns her colleagues by requesting a reassignment to the FBI’s remote Alaskan field office. Back in her home state, a place she vowed she would never return to, Sadie is running from a secret in her recent past and back into her old one - and she finds herself facing her demons, including her sister’s unsolved murder, while assigned to hunt down a new serial killer.

FBI Special Agent Sadie Price has barely recovered from her last case, when she is assigned to an urgent, new one: a gruesome discovery has revealed that women are turning up dead, their bodies found in the cargo holds of fishing boats, half-eaten by crabs.

Sadie, stuck for the winter and here to stay, must form a tenuous alliance with Sheriff Logan Cooper and the local bar owner, if she is to penetrate the icy wall of outcast locals. Exploring the harbor and the crusty workers who inhabit it, Sadie needs answers to this seemingly unsolvable string of murders, and to the mysteries of her own past.

Suspects abound in the remote and unforgiving landscape. But, this is no garden variety killer, and hunting him down may end up a bridge too far - even for a brilliant agent like Sadie. In a deadly game of cat and mouse, can Sadie prove herself a match for this killer?

Or will he prove to be her undoing?

An action-packed page-turner, the Sadie Price series is a riveting crime thriller, jammed with suspense, surprises, twists, and turns that you won’t see coming. It will have you fall in love with a brilliant and scarred new character, while challenging you, amid a barren landscape, to solve an impenetrable crime.

Books 3-6 in the series - Only His, Only Once, Only Spite, and Only Madness - are also now available.

Author needs to spend more time polishing her work

Because I'd just had cataract surgery, I listened to the first two books in the series, but won't be reading or listening to the rest of the series, or other books by this author. Ms. Dark has chosen a truly interesting setting & great plot, and if she spent more time polishing her work - just editing and fact-checking, she has the potential to produce best sellers. However, at this point in her career, she does too much telling and not enough showing. Some of the thoughts her protagonist FBI agent Sadie Price has are repeated over and over throughout the book as if they've never been mentioned before, or the reader is too dumb to pick up on what's been said. The same is true of some of the discussions between Agent Price and Sheriff Cooper. And this is within the same book, not over the two books.
It was also a bit disconcerting that when Agent Price suffered a major neck wound that caused her to bleed from an artery in her neck towards the end of the first book, she was able to keep functioning over a prolonged time and into the second book, which follows directly from the first time-wise without blood loss being an issue. And although she's an FBI agent with a boss, other than a quick hello when she arrives in Anchorage, and a few phone calls, she's doesn't seem to have to answer to the FBI through two major murder investigations. She just does her own thing with the local sheriff. Given that she's a newcomer to the Anchorage office, this seems unrealistic. The author has creative ideas, and shows real promise if she stops cranking out short books quite so quickly, and takes the necessary time to edit, or have others edit her work, and work on her writing skills a little.
