A dark, riveting series about a thief

Queen of Thieves is a dark, riveting series about a girl growing up in a world of criminals and becoming a master thief. The stories are dark with beloved characters dying cruel deaths at the drop of the hat.

Recommended for mature readers due to violence and sexual content.

The narrator of the audiobooks does a very good job bringing the books to life.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Young girl raised by thieves...

I stumbled across this as a box set and thought to give it a try. very happy I did. the story moves from one mishap to adventure. reminds me of the Lies of Locke Lamore.

One of the best fantasy trilogies of the new teens

THE QUEEN OF THIEVES series follows Illana from her status as a young girl sold by her father to cover his debts to her rise to become the greatest thief of the Night Guild. The Night Guild is a Dungeons and Dragons-esque Thieves Guild that wields all the power in its home city but for their archenemy in the Duke and his Thief-finders. Poor Illana goes through the ringer as she's subjected to numerous brutal lessons in the unfairness and cruelty of the world. She loses friends left and right and suffers indignities that go unpunished because the Night Guild is, well, a bunch of criminals. Illana eventually learns to play the game and possibly how to turn the tables on her former masters but has the problem of knowing no other life besides being a criminal (and her few friends are also thieves).

Andy Peloquin does a great job establishing Illana's character and how things are making a previously optimistic child into a hardened woman. Illana rolls with the punches and becomes an exceptional thief that would make Hans Gruber proud but he doesn't avoid showing her flaws. Illana's bitterness, anger, and arrogance get her into a lot of trouble. While she does some unlikable things, she never loses the reader's sympathy and you want her to achieve her impossible dream of getting free of the Night Guild. She's also a rare bi heroine in fantasy, though her romances tend to be tragic.

Overall, this is a fantastic trilogy of books and it's best to buy the collection rather than a single individual book. The narrator does a fantastic job as well.

Great Epic Series worth the time

I received this box set as a courtesy to become familiar with the author, Andy Peloquin. It is an amazing, powerful story of a remarkable woman who eventually becomes the queen of the Night Guild. The character building is well done and easy to get caught up emotionally with the Night Guild characters. Stories are dark with beloved characters dying cruel deaths at the drop of the hat. I found the ending to be what I was waiting for throughout the book. I recommend this box set series and have purchase Book 3.5 to continue what happens to the Night Guild with Illana leading the way.

Immersive adventure

I was pulled in from the beginning until the very end! The characters, world and plot are very well developed and omg the emotions! Rebecca McKernan also did an amazing job narrating these books. The story kept me on the edge of my seat needing to know what comes next through all the plot twists. This as all of Andy Peloquin's works I've read this far is highly unpredictiable. Definately recommend giving this a listen!

Excellant Trilogy

My first introduction to author, Andy Peloquin. I found the first novel a little slow, to be honest, but never considered skipping or giving up. The series just got better and better as the protagonist grew up. His world-building is excellant and he mixes Grimdark with hope, which is not easy.
Great series.

Something different around each corner

Great story and performance. See all the trials of a little girl who is forged into someone she would never believe she could be. Twists & turns everywhere, right to the end. Well worth a read/listen.
