Publisher's summary

Crime reporter Nichelle Clarke ventures out to a tiny Chesapeake Bay island community, helping a friend search for answers in the wake of unthinkable tragedy. But in small towns like this, some rocks are never meant to be overturned....

Perfect for fans of James Patterson, J.D. Robb, and Melinda Leigh.

T.J. had the world in the palm of his hand. He was handsome. Popular in school. Smart. A stellar athlete. The son of superstar pro quarterback Tony Okerson, he seemed destined to follow in his father's footsteps to a career of gridiron glory.

That bright, shining dream ends when T.J.'s lifeless body is found on a rocky shoreline near his family's Chesapeake Bay home.

Due to his father's past fame, the tragedy ignites a media frenzy in the normally serene island community. Through a mutual friend, the grieving parents turn to reporter Nichelle Clarke for help. Nichelle agrees to write the story herself and attempt to quell the national media circus.

But as Nichelle begins to explore the facts surrounding the death, she discovers some shocking details. Something doesn't fit. And while the local sheriff wants to stamp the case a drug overdose and move on, Nichelle becomes convinced that foul play may have been involved.

To the townsfolk, Nichelle is an outsider, putting her nose where it doesn't belong. But in her experience, that's exactly where the most damning secrets are kept. And the further she follows the evidence trail, the more Nichelle realizes that this sleepy coastal village is anything but innocent....

I am loving these books. The narrator is awesome and each one I finish moves me to go get the next one in the series.

I love this fun series!

I'm listening to the Nichell Clarke crime series novels in order. SMALL TOWN SPIN is Book 3 in the seven novel series. The protagonist is a Richmond VA crime journalist who is very aggressive in perusing stories and who tends to solve the cases herself. The novels in the series are a delightful mixture of solid investigative journalism and laugh-out-loud humor. The series reminds me of the Miss Fortune mystery series by Jana DeLeon and the Shelby Nichols mystery series by Coleen Helme.

Narrator Therese Plummer deserves special recognition her the incredibly outstanding narration

These are good lighthearted mysteries!

I like mysteries that I think of as candy -- not too bloody, lighthearted but still GOOD. Sometimes I like gritty and sometimes -- like this holiday season while having to work -- I like something a bit lighter but still not a stupid story. Walker is doing a good job with these, I didn't figure out who was doing this one until the end. I am buying another.

Enjoyable

The second book didn't disappoint. The narration is good. Characters are distinguishable. Overall, tone upbeat and doesn't drag on. Lots of twists and turns. You're with Nichelle the whole way during the sleuthing.

Small town fails to deter Nichelle

A favor for the sports writer at her paper leads Nichelle to a former professional football player and his family on an isolated island in Chesapeake Bay. Their teen-aged son is dead of an apparent suicide and the family is grieving. Although unable to develop much rapport with the other inhabitants of the town Nichelle smells a story and continues to dig despite a lack of her normal resources. As the same time things heat up with both her bad boy mobster and law enforcing ex-flame. It all comes to a head when Nichelle saves herself with a shoe... Great performance by Therese Plummer as usual.

Small Town Spin

I must admit I didn’t think I would enjoy these books as much as I have. I find myself trying to solve the mystery along with Nichelle. She seems to get herself into a lot of pickles.

This book was hard to listen to, kids is always a hard concept but small towns added in ooh wee they don’t take it lightly when outsiders come in.

But more than that, Nichelle finds herself in the middle of work fight because she got the exclusive and others didn’t people are not happy with her.

Backstabbing too we can’t forget about that!

And who is going to win Nichelle's affection, will it be Kyle or Joey... I like em both so I can't pick!
Again loving the narration, on to the next.
