Better than the last, good middle book

Audible Escape. 4 stars for story, 2 for narration. I liked this story & execution better than the first. Again, it was a good mix of action & romance. This narrator was not my favorite. She's not terrible, but there was a lack of range in voices (Seb & Tate sound exactly alike and any character outside Seb/Tate & Julia sound almost exactly the same ~ regardless of gender) as well as a few instances of distracting lip-smacking and breathing.

This is part 2 of a 3 book series. It has it’s own complete adventure, but is part of a story arc that weaves through all 3 books. This book follows Former Spec Ops soldier, Sebastian Stone as he's trying to locate the source of deadly virus as well as a conspiracy that has killed several of his team members. While investigating the virus, he meets Dr. Julia Davenport and later rescues her from a General trying to kill her for knowing too much. I enjoyed the strong, intelligent Julia more than Eva (from book 1). Probably because her character stayed consistent throughout and she brought more than a "damsel in distress" to the story. I also felt the romantic connection much stronger in this story than in the last one.

I wish we got to know Nick a little better so that I felt more invested in his story, but I am looking forward to Special Ops Exclusive. This was a fun and enjoyable listen. For me, it isn’t worth the credits as it isn’t something I’d listen to over and over again (probably due more to the narrator than the story), but it was a good borrow on Audible Escape.

Exciting, well-read book

Would you listen to Special Forces Rendezvous again? Why?

I enjoyed the story very much, but not enough to listen to it again. I have so many other books to discover and listen to.

If you’ve listened to books by Elle Kennedy before, how does this one compare?

This was more exciting than the other.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really.

Any additional comments?

I purchased this book because I liked the reader, Liz Bieler, whom I heard on Darkwood Manor. She has a very reassuring and confident voice. She would be very good reading business or self-help books.

Good story, good romance

The female protagonist is well educated, strong, and knows her own mind and her love interest in the story is street-smart and macho.

Suspense surrounds a secret operation in a small village outside the U.S., causing the primary tension in the plot. The romance balances on differing ideas of relationships rather than miscommunications or hot tempers, which I enjoyed.

The book is relatively well written, but the reader took me a while to get used to. She starts out a bit rough and is terrible with Aussie accents, but after the first hour, I wasn't too bothered.

For me, a book gets 5 stars only if I must miss sleep to listen to it, so this one's only 4 stars.

Suspense & Romance All in One!

I enjoyed listening to Liz bring Julia & Sebastian to life. Her voice gave a an accurate portrayal of how I envisioned the characters. She did a very good job with all the various accents of the different characters-- it made it easy to follow the story. The book kept me on the edge of my seat- story was pretty fast paced.
