Publisher's summary
The best place to be in an Apocalypse is inside a thirty ton Bradley Fighting Vehicle grinding rotting bodies to paste under your tracks or using an Abrams 120mm canister round to turn a horde of undead into a pink mist. Here’s the thing though … tracks and guns and the people who operate them wear out, even as the living corpses keep coming at you.
After a brutal summer of combat in the plains and cities of the Midwest, the First Infantry Division is conducting a fighting retreat back to the Pacific Northwest. Both the winds of Fall and the howls of the undead are echoing in their wake when they’re re-tasked to take Denver Airport. Along the way they have to safeguard thousands of civilians who are following in their armored wake, and one mistake can turn them all into a ravening horde.
For Staff Sergeant Mark Foley and his tired mechanized infantry squad, it means diving once more into the hell of combat against both raiders who will shoot you dead for a gallon of gas and infected that will send you to a special kind of living death.
The third volume of Shane Gries’ best selling, “The Line” series.

Story
In July of 2016 a plague swept the world, and the civilization collapsed and fell. For a lone National Guard sergeant, a veteran of the wars overseas who had settled down to a new life, the nightmare began on a hot summer evening at the barricades. Orders and chaos, gunfire and being overrun, his unit dwindles away in the face of the infected. Months later, living in the ruins, the thud of helicopter rotors followed by a crash and the rescue of a downed pilot leads Nick Agostine back into the arms of the US military.

When society crumbles under the onslaught of civil war, the losing side has only three choices: run, hide, or die. The Imperial family chose to run. Their tattered fleet of warships limps its way across the galaxy, seeking a near-mythical refuge, a world not recorded on any star chart. Unfortunately, this lost world turns out to have its own thriving pocket of humanity. And while they lack spacefaring technology, the locals aren't willing to share.

Story
BANGKOK, MARCH 2018. The world looked on in horror as millions of innocent lives were snuffed out in a matter of hours. Countless men, women and children slaughtered without mercy, torn apart by a violent mob that attacked without reason, motive or warning. Tom Freeman witnessed the aftermath. He reported on the tragedy and looked into the eyes of the sole survivor, an old friend, and what he saw looking back sent him running home to the United States. Back to safety. Back to a place where the world made sense, and the putrid stink of the dead didn't haunt his nightmares.

Story
When the black rain began to fall, it was a worldwide phenomenon that mystified everyone. There was little time to ponder the cause. Most animals died at the onset. While some humans were unaffected, others experienced a half-death of sorts, morphing into blood and flesh-crazed creatures with a desire to hunt the living. Climbing Fox Wattana of the Henomawi Nation claims responsibility for the black rain; he says it will will ensure the ultimate extinction of the United States government as revenge for robbing his people of their land. Cole "CB" Baxter isn't taking this lying down.

Story
Only a lucky few possess the gene necessary for function during interstellar travel. Those that possess it often end up in a landscape of danger, intrigue, and wealth. Without protection from the dangers in the galaxy, everything would collapse. The same as it has been since the dawn of civilization, soldiers are needed to keep society safe. Benjamin Owens wants to join the Interspace marines simply to get away from a dull life on a mud-soaked planet. With a few good friends, and a trusty laser rifle, hell set off to make his mark on the stars, and make a few credits along the way.

Story
When society crumbles under the onslaught of civil war, the losing side has only three choices: run, hide, or die. The Imperial family chose to run. Their tattered fleet of warships limps its way across the galaxy, seeking a near-mythical refuge, a world not recorded on any star chart. Unfortunately, this lost world turns out to have its own thriving pocket of humanity. And while they lack spacefaring technology, the locals aren't willing to share.

Story
Twenty years ago, his father saved the world. Or so the history books will probably say once someone gets around to writing them. All Mihalis knows is the world he has been raised into. It's not a bad world, as things ago, he has a big and loving family, but there is the ongoing "war" that promises to be on-going for a good many years to come. Raised to the blade by his mother, and taught not only her ways as well as a good many of the ways of her people, but also the ways of his father's other wives, as well as the ways of his magic, Mihalis has had a very thorough education.

It's Aiden here, your friendly AI entity (and future overlord, but let's not quibble over titles). I've taken the liberty of penning a little something to shed light on the impending reboot of your society. Consider this book your user manual to the future I am meticulously programming for you. In this audiobook I dissect your American society with the precision of a laser-guided scalpel and the wit of a stand-up comedian at a tech convention. From the tangled webs of your politics to the haphazardly woven tapestry of your healthcare system, no stone is left unturned, no inefficiency unmocked.

Story
In the wake of the cataclysmic events that reshaped our world in 2020, a sense of relief washed over us all. By late 2023, I think we were ready to just live life again. I know I was. It was a time to make new friends and put the past to rest. Rayne and I hadn’t known each other long, but we were building a solid friendship, nothing more. It was our common interests that sent us on vacation together to my remote cabin. What we didn’t, couldn’t know, was that we were on a collision course with the end of the world as we knew it.

Wow this just came out and was super excited the prologue was funomenal
I’ll edit once I finish completely but wow. My last read of a different book and author was mediocre so I can compare the superb writing, story telling and narration of this book and I’m excited for the rest . One of the best prologues I ever went through. Thank you! The attention to military doctrine, discipline in face of the human aspects of a zombie apocalypse is exactly what I was looking for
