Publisher's summary

In this star-crossed short story from New York Times bestselling author Alice Hoffman, timing is everything as two sisters learn to let love follow its own path.

Isabel, the long-lost Gibson sister, is finally back home on Brinkley’s Island, Maine. With Sophie and Violet, her sister and her niece, she’s got the family bookstore—and with Johnny Lenox, she’s got something even more special.

But even as life settles, not everything is falling into place. Isabel and Johnny have set the date three times, baked three wedding cakes, invited the whole island to three parties, only to have each attempt at matrimony fall apart at the last minute. Disasters seem to be conspiring against their happy ending, and Isabel is starting to wonder if their love is meant to be.

When family history comes back to haunt the Gibson sisters, Isabel knows that if she wants to make it down the aisle with Johnny, first she and Sophie will have to face the pain of their past and their present, and decide what it means for their future.

A Book 2 to The Bookstore Sisters

A dosely intertwind family story that held both promise and sadness. It continued a story begun in Book 1 called The Bookstore Sisters that will intrigue and delight any lover of fictional family sagas even if it is brief.

good short

The premise of thus story was good. It's a nice short read. The narrator did a very nice job reading it for audible.

Very sweet story.

Predictable love story. A surprise twist with the wedding. Short, easy listening family theme.

Fantastic

This was a great and short listen. I wish it went a little bit longer though. But overall it was such a joy to get into the lives of these characters again. The story is just so wonderful. I was getting a little but nervous though for a hot minute. But everything worked out well. I hope the next book is about Violet though, she added a lot to the first book. But I get it, this one was more about the sisters and the never ending wedding dates. Ha ha if you read or listened to this then you know what I mean. I laughed a lot during this listen and I also was like I said getting nervous a bit.
Looking forward to the next adventure with these group of characters.
Also forgot to mention I loved how Emily Dickinson was mentioned in this book.

cute story

there are lots of inconsistencies from book 1 - makes it difficult to follow the story when you're brain is thinking, that's not right... fairly sappy and very much in the style of a Harlequin Romance paperback.

Not as good as the first…

I really loved the first story, The Bookstore Sisters, and was so disappointed that this one was flawed by the inclusion of so many corny recipe names (there were at least 12, plus some repeated). It annoyed me, because it was so over-the-top.

I must say that I went back and listened to the first story before I could let myself listen to this one in its entirety. As I listened to the second story, I realized that I would have enjoyed it much more without all of those “Marry Me, Marry Me” wedding cake and “Make the Most of Life” pink lemonade cake references. For me, it was just too much. It seemed like the author was mentioning some sort of baked good with every other sentence. And I do realize that the baking recipes from their mother were a huge unifying factor in the stories. Just distracting to me and marred my enjoyment.

Too short; could have been epilogue

While the storyline was a good one, I do feel it could have been an epilogue included in the first. It didn’t need to be separate when the first chunk was summarizing the previous
