Publisher's summary

Destined to love each other. Determined to fight their fate.

Nava Forrest stumbled upon her soulmate when she was young. A brief meeting with a hooded stranger forever bound her to a man she wanted nothing to do with. Her parents were also soulmates marrying despite her father not being a magic-wielder, their forbidden love forcing their family into hiding. Now that they are gone, her life raising her younger brother and selling potions to wary townsfolk has been quiet... and magic-free. When the Society of Crows finds Nava, intent on enslaving her, it forces her to flee to the forest, searching for the one person she was told can protect her.

Arkimedes is certainly not what she expected, and her attraction to him is new and unnerving. As the chemistry between them grows, so does her power. With the Society closing in, it forces the two to create unexpected alliances, and work in their disagreements. One rejecting magic and the other a powerful, enigmatic fae, who has secrets of his own and is determined to change her mind. Escape to a new magical world in The Curse of a Kingdom! Action packed, sexy, and perfect for fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout and C.N. Crawford.

Better than the first book!

I really enjoy this series. The second installation feels like a decent departure from the first book but in a good way. I felt like the first book ended in such a way that I wasn't sure how the story would grow. However, this book starts up with a bang where we see Arc being kidnapped and his memory of the last eleven years erased. Nava has to team up with her enemy to find Arc and discover some pretty big secrets Arc hadn't been forthcoming about before. We learn a lot about Arc's background, his family and a juicy new prophecy! There's hauntings, a false engagement, shadow demons and of course new powers for Nava to grapple with. If you enjoyed the first book you will like this one more! However, there is less battling and fighting than the first book.

The magic system in this book is so unique. Nava is a bee-keeper which comes with its own set of powers and a destiny to boot. But her powers continue to grow and her bond with Arc is constantly changing.

The romance in this book is so heartbreakingly good. The memory wipe was such a fun addition however I wish there had been a little more teasing and tension between the three characters at the beginning. The author also graced us with some delicious spice which was tasteful and 🔥.

I cannot wait to read what comes next for these characters. The author left this book with a bit of a cliffhanger and a lot of unanswered questions. There's a ton of material and plotlines that the author has at their disposal that could really make this an epic series.

My biggest hangup was with the audio recording. The voice actor is very robotic and the inflections they used don't always match the scene. I think if this book had a better voice actor it could really come alive for the audience much better.
