About this listen

You run a business. And running a business is hard.

The burden of responsibility, the weight of stress, and the loneliness of running your business are a far cry from your friends who work salaried jobs. The path of least resistance is to let the stress and isolation of starting, running, and growing a business infiltrate most aspects of your life.

Over and over, we've watched our fellow entrepreneurs succumb to the mental toll and chaos of running a business. We've also experienced it firsthand as we've launched and grown our own businesses.

Why do I need this audiobook?

  • You want to invest in yourself (and consequently, your business).
  • You want to learn proven strategies and techniques to overcome the challenges that cause you heartburn.
  • You want to get off the treadmill of stress and isolation that entrepreneurship brings.
  • You want to prevent burnout, depression, isolation, and the emergence of damaging coping strategies and self-sabotaging choices.

Every aspect of this audiobook is a pairing of psychological expertise with decades of entrepreneurial experience. Here are just a few takeaways:

  • New ways to deal with the responsibility and anxiety that go along with being an entrepreneur
  • How a single shift in mindset can make a lifelong difference in your success and fulfillment
  • Why knowing yourself and where you came from is crucial to your success
  • How to succeed as an entrepreneur no matter your personality type
  • How to keep stress from ruining your life and relationships
  • Identifying and dealing with anxiety, burnout, and other common psychological burdens
  • How to get more things done - and faster
  • Staying connected with your significant other, friends, and colleagues
  • How to deal with overwhelming success and (seemingly) massive failures
  • How to find personal calm in the midst of chaos
  • And much more....

Crucial book for being sustainably successful

Authors clearly know their stuff, and aren't afraid to say what you need to but don't necessarily want to hear. Also actionable with clear takeaways and calls to action.

Helped me get my mojo back

Started out my software career as a solo entrepreneur, had some success, then burned out and started life over as a successful but dissatisfied salaried software engineer. This book brings together a lot of wise strategies that both reminded me what I want from work and helped me avoid some of the mental pitfalls I fell into during my first crack at owning my own business. I am encouraged to try again.

On my MUST READ recommendations list

This book is very helpful and full of actionable guidance and education. While listening to the audiobook, I felt like I was talking to a friend and someone who cares and understands. It made me feel normal and not alone in my thoughts. I definitely recommend that entrepreneurs and their family read/listen to the book. I bought the audio book and the hard copy to reference again in the future. Definitely a blessing to read/hear. I will pass it on to others.

Sherry Walling Nails Mental Health for Founders

What? I'm not unique??? It's great to know there are others who have wrestled with these issues, found clarity, solutions, and pressed on (or not) with grace and success. Whenever I'm "between" books, I come back to this one, 3x now. Always grounding. Thanks Sherry and Rob!

Great book for tech, bootstrapped entrepreneurs

Really great book for entrepreneurs on the less talked about side of having a small software business such as depression, stress management, anxiety, and even suicide. Strongly recommend.

the reader is flat and mumbles

This book got great reviews. And since im always on the go i figured id get the audio book. But the reader talks wayyy to fast often mumbling over her words. On top of that the tone is flat all the way through. I tried to slow it down but she just sounds like a drunk college girl. i guess ill go get the actual book.
