Publisher's summary

Noir Rose, a horror and thriller author, always believed that the fictional monsters that she wrote about were just that - fictional. The true horror of the hideous beasts resided only within the gruesome tales she wrote. She never dreamed that reality could be just as cold and cruel as the monsters writhing inside her mind.

With the mysterious arrival of a personal invitation to a masquerade ball, Noir’s life takes a page out of one of her stories.

The Crows have come home. Men cloaked in secrets and hidden behind white masks, earning them their chilling nickname "the Faceless".

Noir should’ve ran while she had the chance, but the Faceless have set their sights on her. Now that they’ve found her, they’ll never let her go. They’ve waited an eternity for her, intent on using her to save themselves from the dark fate of their cursed immortal lives.

Can Noir find a way to stop her fate being tied to their own? Or, will she succumb to their dark desires and break through their black hearts, lifting the curse forever? One thing’s for sure - she won’t come out of this the same person.

Because, sometimes, there’s beauty in the beasts within.

Note: This is a dark, reverse harem, stand-alone with explicit scenes, light BDSM, violence, and possible triggers.

Sad Face

I’m only on ch. 19 and already realize the narration of the story has been…monotone. Not any expression.

NOT dark reverse harem

Sometimes I think I must truly be a demon for what I am looking for when I type “dark reverse harem” into amazon, looking for the next read that can live up to a bar set by the likes of authors such as Addison Cain. Instead, I find titles like this, and am simultaneously disappointed and questioning my own depravity. If this is “dark”, then I’m really in trouble.

4 hours in and I’m still waiting for it to get good. I give up. The MC was too okay with being kidnapped. The author wussed out of what could have been heart-wrenching and full of tension for an easygoing, boring caricature of dark erotica.

The narrator is almost just as bad. Monotone most of the time, and terrible during the sex scenes.

Just a bore, but mainly, authors, please stop describing your books as ‘dark’ when they’re... this. It only leads to disappointment and bad impressions.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

K.B. Everly you did another amazing job writing this story. I loved it from the very start and sad that it ended. EV Carpenter you did an amazing job narrating this book to where you made it come to life. If you haven't listened or read this book yet I highly recommend it.

This book is terrible!

I want to start off and say the narrator was perfectly find, she did her best with what she was given.

This book is a bad fan fiction. Muddy transition and pace with little to no description when it comes to the men and a little too much description on clothing and bathrooms. The characters come off one dimensional with little to no true heart in them. Poor writing…

Poor Narration, not really worth the credit

The story was pretty average and didn't always keep my attention but the narrator is what ruined it for me. She could not change her tone for the male voices so everyone sounded the same and she has a bit of a lisp which was distracting. She would mispronounce words and it would make me cringe. Would not recommend as an audiobook.

Boring

This book was not my favorite. The narration was very monotone and did not lend itself to excitement. The story itself I found interesting. A writer who literally falls into the world she writes about who is destined to break a curse for her mates is an oldie but a goodie storyline. That's the problem.. its boring and predictable. No great sex scenes. The saving grace was listening to Noir try to get to know her vampires.

Could have been so much better

The narration was so bland. the story wasn't awful but could have been better. All they needed to do was make it longer and actually describe things better and not enough spice at all

I didn’t love it

Maybe if I’d read it on my own I might have liked it a little better?? I did not care for the narrator. Her voice just did not go with the serious nature of the parts of the story. I also thought the story was kinda dumb, the sex scenes just OK. All in all I barely made it through this audiobook. Just did not love it.

Bland storyline, tone less storytelling

Perhaps the story might have been entertaining if the narrator hadn't been so stiff with her performance. Mispronounced words and lack of animation drew focus away from the content.
