Publisher's summary
Hump triumphed over the challenges of Bledsbury Dungeon, but it wasn’t without a cost...
Imprinted by the soul of the Wolf Dragon, Hump must master this new power or risk being consumed by it. The soul is a fragile thing after all, and he fears what part of himself may have been lost.
But with the threat of the Dragon Keeper Trials looming, he must find a way to get stronger...fast. In need of further training, Hump and his party seek out a wizard acquaintance of his master. What they find is a town beseeched by otherworldly spirits. Locals snatched in the gloom of night, adventurers sent to their aid gone missing, and whispers of a witch luring the creatures to their doorstep.
Hump will need all the newfound strength he can muster if he is to survive and uncover the truth of these spirits.
The price may just be his humanity.
Book two of a Progression Fantasy LitRPG/GameLit Series about a working-class wizard out to forge his own path and prove that one does not have to be Chosen to do great deeds.

Story
Legends speak of wizards with the power to rival Gods. To Hump, it’s just a story. Apprenticed to a wandering wizard, he grew up on the road, following the coin on whatever quest it took them. He always believed his master was just an ordinary hedge wizard, until the old man suddenly died, and his book of spells bound to Hump’s soul. Knowing no other life, Hump takes up his master’s staff and heads out alone into a world of dungeons and monsters. So begins the path of The Wanderer. The White Flame. The Hedge Wizard.

Story
When William stumbles through a portal in the middle of Antarctica, he'll suddenly find himself in a world unlike any he's ever known. Now, he's surrounded by monster girls, vicious warlords, and everything in between. Worse, his only weapon is a magical branding iron, which seems to have one skill and one skill only, to overwrite slave brands. Thing is, monster girls seem pretty grateful about being freed from the tyranny of their masters, and with each one he brands, the stronger he becomes.

Kenji's only dream in life is to become a great rebirther like his father. But with no talent for the mystic arts, the age-old tradition of cultivating essence by returning things to their newborn state, to grow a second and third time, is far beyond his grasp. The usual result of a human taking a runaway semitruck head-on is a very sudden, very fast track to the pearly gates. But for one newly noncorporeal man, there's another option: become a dungeon. Feeling sorry for the desperate angel assigned to him, the man relents. Heck, if it doesn't work out, he can always chat with Saint Peter about it later. Next thing you know, he's a dungeon. The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite - a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

Much better than the first book
The first book was good but this book is great! The time just flew away and I am very excited for the 3rd. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

All the fun of the first book continues
Great book for fantasy fans, or anyone that enjoys rpgs/dnd without being beat over the head with it. Love the surprise and how the world expanded in this sequel.

Great. Even better than the first.
I’m only a little disappointed in who died. No spoilers but I felt there could have been something from that character. Other than that I’m looking forward to the next book.

I feel it got better!
I enjoyed the first book so much I had to the second as soon as I finished.
Now I'm just waiting for the 3rd.
(and still no stat sheets, thank you Alex!)

Great series!
I am really enjoying this series. I like the world and the explanations of how it works. I love the characters, both their strengths and weaknesses.
This is a great read if you like RPG style literature.

Absolutely love this series! Character dynamics are perfect and the story never lags! Definitely wish book 3 was out because this ending left me on the edge of my seat!

Excellent Series Continues
This series continues to be surprisingly good; one of the best I've read this year. Though a progression fantasy, this book does not feel like a series of roleplaying game sessions (much less a CRPG).
The character building is strong, with changes arising organically from the events of the story. The adventure is well-written. The threats are appropriate to the characters' power, but this does not feel contrived. And the action is immersive.
This book and the series so far are highly recommended.
