Publisher's summary
‘Warming and lighthearted… this is a novel that leaves you romanticising crumbling mansions and the brooding bachelors hiding in their mazes’ Megan Clawson, author of Falling Hard for the Royal Guard
'Charming! Small rural town, rolling hills, and an old manor house, all embraced in a grumpy/sunshine romance – all the country comforts you need in a read.’ Pernille Hughes, author of Ten Years
'Elizabeth Drummond knows how to craft the perfect, broody, swoon-worthy hero, Wolfie had my heart at his first glower.’ Camilla Isley, author of Opposites Attract
His house. Her rules. But who’s in charge?
Pippa Munro had the perfect life plan. What she did not plan, was for her boyfriend to break up with her. Or sell her beloved home. So instead of being blissfully engaged, Pippa finds herself jobless, homeless and single.
Wolfie Squires needs someone to look after his family’s ancient house. He’s too busy with his hot shot city job to deal with a country manor several hundred miles away.
Enter Pippa Munro, Wolfie’s exact opposite.
As tempers fray, ideas clash, and secrets are spilled, Pippa and Wolfie might realise they have the same ambitions for the house, if only they could stop arguing long enough to find out…

A bad best man’s speech can ruin a wedding. Why do we plan every detail of a perfect day and then give the groom’s idiot best friend five minutes of total power? Enter Nate (Glen Powell), a speechwriter-for-hire who helps people write incredible best man speeches. To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. Story
Alice's journey begins as all good journeys do: hitting on the sales guy at REI. After a tumultuous breakup, a quick career transition, family upheaval, and a sobriety journey that didn't fix her life quite as much as she expected it to, Alice decides that the only way to solve all her problems is to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. But as she begins preparing for the months-long quest, she realizes the answers she's seeking might not be on top of a snow-covered mountain. Especially since she just learned there was snow in California.

The proposition is simple: if ER nurse Claire Harper and her roommate, firefighter Graham Scott, are still single by the time they’re forty, they’ll take the proverbial plunge together…as friends with benefits. Maybe it’s the wine, but in the moment, Claire figures the pact is a safe-enough deal, considering she hasn’t had much luck in love and he’s in no rush to settle down. Like, at all. Besides, there’s no way she could ever really fall for Graham and his thrill-seeking ways. Not after what happened to her father.

Kate is sick of being taken for granted by her husband Vince. It’s bad enough that she allowed herself to be dragged away from the London life she loved, but now she’s constantly compelled to keep up with the (very smug) Joneses in this small home counties town. She hates it here. What happened to the fun-loving woman she used to be? At almost 50 Kate feels lost, overlooked and like nothing is ever going to change. That is, until she comes home to an unexpected party – one that she has to cater. And that’s it. The final straw. Breaking point.

In those 15 days since my husband died, I’ve met his girlfriend, who’s befriended me, and to top it all off, it turns out, infidelity wasn’t the only thing he’s guilty of. He hadn’t paid our bills in four months. Now I’m forced to rent out the room above our garage. But there’s a hitch. The guy that rents it? My one-night stand from the night I found out my deceased husband had been cheating on me. The problem? He’s a college baseball player. And let me tell you, sister. Cason Reins, his name should come with a surgeon general warning.

Wealthy Oxford student Dylan was staying at his friend Cherry’s enormous French villa; wild child Addie was spending her summer as the on-site caretaker. Two years ago, their relationship officially ended. They haven’t spoken since. Today, Dylan’s and Addie’s lives collide again. It’s the day before Cherry’s wedding, and Addie and Dylan crash cars at the start of the journey there.

Not for me, but still good
I have such a hard time with third person narration, because it’s really difficult for me to interpret chemistry that way. I really don’t feel like Pippa and Wolfie had any at all, in fact I feel like they barely spoke. I also don’t like or understand the name choice “Wolfie”. Otherwise, the story was cute and the premise was good. I liked the narration by Janna Fox as well.
