Publisher's summary

If someone were to ask you what was the theme of Jesus' preaching, what would be your answer? Man's need for salvation? God's love for mankind? The new birth?

To be sure, Jesus spoke about all of those things. And they're all essential truths. But none of them were the theme of his teaching. The theme of Jesus' message was the kingdom of God.

Wherever he went, Jesus preached about the kingdom. The irony is that the message of the kingdom is almost totally missing from the gospel that's preached today. As a result, a lot of Christians don't realize that the kingdom of God is a present reality on earth. In fact, they don't even know what the kingdom of God is. Consequently, they never make the kingdom commitment that Christ requires.

In The Kingdom that Turned the World Upside Down, David Bercot takes the listener back to Jesus' teachings of the kingdom - teachings that have too often been forgotten. Bercot describes the radically new laws of the kingdom and its upside-down values. There's no room in Christ's kingdom for superficial Christianity, for this is a kingdom that has historically turned the world upside down.

The Kingdom that Turned the World Upside Down will challenge you to the core in your Christian walk.

we can change our lives to match Jesus' simple and clear Words or we can change His simple and clear Words to match our life, our preconceptions, our comforts, etc. its a decision we must all make after reading this book. complete surrender to Jesus as Lord and King. to be a follower of Jesus means we must actually follow what He commanded us to do.

Eye opening

Listen carefully and consider if you’ve fallen for easy believism and if you need to reconsider your views on what it means to be a Christian.

well-researched and well-written with one error

Once again David Bercot does a fantastic job, going into the history of the True Church of Jesus Christ. While Examining the Scriptures and encouraging all of the readers to look for themselves at Jesus's True Word, he errors on falling into a premillennial mindset where Jesus is supposed to return and reign upon the Earth for a thousand years, a philosophy that is incoherent with the other teachings of Jesus and even the other teachings in this book that he points out about not living for a kingdom of the world... a thing that he accurately points out that Jesus never intended for us. Despite this one major inconsistency, I would recommend this book for its history and its strong call to adhere to the true gospel that Jesus taught and not the man-made doctrines that have popped up ever since.

Bercot's best work

David Bercot has written his best work yet here in my opinion and this is by far the best book on Christian living that I have ever read. if the church today live the way the first second and third century believers did then we could also turn the world upside down.

Great, historically-supported argument!

Love the book, the references and the conclusion. The narrator is decent but doesn't seem to understand the "ng" sound. Listened to the entire book in one day as I worked! Thank you David.

The most personally challenging book I have

Not the best reader. But be patient with that and hear the the Bible read to you like you have never read it before
