Publisher's summary

They're the best of friends or the worst of friends. Neither one is letting go.

The flame.

Here lies Louchana Valentine. She was a homeless, orphaned virgin.

I never cared what my gravestone would say until I landed in deep with a powerful gangster. Lucky for me, my best friend happens to be ruthless, too. I should feel guilty that he's forced to turn on the man who's been a father to him. Except I've always known that Wren's soul wasn't as black as he claimed.

He was good.
He was beautiful.
He was mine.
He just didn't know it yet.

And with Wren keeping me safe, I've got time left to rewrite the end of my story. But if he has his way, virgin is already carved in stone.

The moth.

I've never known anyone as alluring as Lou. Or as frustrating. Since the night she saved my life and stole my wallet for her troubles, I couldn't stay away.

She became my onus.
My light.
My...anyway.

With nowhere to run, I'm forced to trust someone I never expected. At least with Lou safe in Blackwood Keep - far away from me - I'll die with my conscience intact. Because she no longer looks at me with friendship in her eyes. Those iridescent blues shine with a different need entirely, and I've never been able to deny her.

This second installment in the When Rivals Play series is a continuation of the events that occurred in The Peer and the Puppet. Content suitable for ages 18 and up.

A must Listen!

I love this series so much! I have previously read the entire series and listened to the first book. This book is even better in audio form. There are so many quirks to Wrens personality that you can only truly pick up on when you hear it. It made me love him more than I did before. I do not understand how BB is able to create this high school world that is so unreal, but I still believe every bit of it and get engrossed every single time. Nobody writes sexual build up like this woman. When they do get there I am just as ready as they are for it to happen. Yes BB you get me every time. Plus you can’t get much better than Muffy Newtown and Teddy Hamilton for the narration. Thank you BB for inviting me into your world, I’m never leaving so be prepared.

BB Reid is a requirement of any romance library.

I have all released books in the When Rivals Play series so far and the audio books to go with each. Even the FREE podcast for Evermore from Read Me Romance. Every one is worth it. Every one is excellent. These are the type of books that you need in either ebook or paperback which ever you prefer AND in audio! That way you can play with them in the daytime and dream with them at night. So save your pennies ladies. The audio books were home runs. Evermore is free on podcast and it is absolutely amazing as well. The whole world is absorbing. Each couple and each book in its own right is its own story but never neglects to tie to the one that came before and the one that's coming after. BB and her narrators always make me feel like I'm standing right there in that world instead of just a reader holding a book. Lost in the moment. Just how I like it. The Broken Love series is one of my all time favorites and when you love something that much you're always afraid that the author will disappoint you somehow in the future. BB has never let me down.

Best Friends!

Muffy and Teddy hit this narrative spot on!
Lou and Wren draw out so much banter with their quip responses and frustration, these two captured and delivered the emotion that well!
This story in itself is beautifully written! Teddy did such a wonderful job executing Wren, I even loved hearing his version of Louchana! He has a very distinct and unique approach to his characters personality that I can easily pick up on his voice while listening to an audiobook.

I hope to come by these narrators again!

I fell in love with this story again

I had read the paperback version of The Moth and the Flame so I was excited to listen to the audiobook. I'll be honest, I'm not a super big audiobook fan but Muffy Newtown and Teddy Hamilton always do such a good job. I love Teddys voice when he reads the male parts. Listening to the audiobook made me fall in love with Wren and Lou all over again.

Spellbinding slow burn romance!

I adore B.B. Reid's writing, but I have to admit that I was a bit reluctant to jump into The Moth and the Flame because I tend to have a hard time with slow burn romance. However, I needn't have worried. The characters and the story were so engaging, the emotions so raw, the tension so palpable that I didn't mind the slow burn at all. In fact, it was needed for this story to unfold. The Moth and the Flame is the second installment in When Rivals Play series and continues the overall story while focusing on the relationship between Wren and Lou who we met in The Peer and the Puppet. Their story is both tragic and beautiful, their paths forever intertwined and their hearts beat for nobody but each other. This is a story of young love beating the odds set in the brutal world of gang wars and impossible choices. There are so many twists and turns, revelations and "oh my god moments" that kept me at the edge of my seat.

B.B. Reid does it again.

So I do not leave a lot of reviews, so when I do it's because they are earned. I read this book on my kindle when it first came out, but could not get the story out of my head. Listening to it while I am in the car, working out at the gym, or even sitting at my desk at work was perfect. The narrators voices (to me) matched the voices of Lou and Wren perfectly. I even didn't mind when the female had to have a male voice, or when the man needed to have a females voice. It all turned out perfect. I recommend listening to this book over and over again. This is easily becoming one of my favorite series to read and listen to. Can't wait for more.

Awesome book audio!

Great audio book! Performances are great! Love this book so much! Wren and Lou have so much chemistry between them. Each of their stories will pull at your heartstrings! B. B. Is an awesome writer and she pulls you in with the angst and suspense! If you have read or listened to The Peer and the Puppet then you will definitely want to pick up this audio! Teddy Hamilton is one of my fave male audio performers and he brings Wren’s character to life. Muffy is new to me but she is awesome!
