About this listen
What if the perfect revenge was built on a lie?
After years of searching, Nora has finally tracked down the woman who destroyed her life. She rents the house next door under an assumed identity, but before she can put her plan for retribution into motion, the woman's mysterious young lodger goes missing.
As evidence of foul play mounts, a web of lies begins to unravel, and a shocked community is ripped apart. When the trail to the abductor leads to where no one imagined, Nora discovers that everyone is harboring secrets, and no one can be trusted.
With an innocent life at stake, and hopes for revenge fading fast, Nora faces a harrowing decision that will awaken the dark past she desperately wishes could be undone.
But will the truth she uncovers prove more shocking than the lies she has believed?
A psychological thriller novella guaranteed to keep you gripped until the finish line!
Will you enjoy The Silent Surrogate? If you read or listened to any of my favorite psychological and domestic suspense thriller authors including K. L. Slater, Shalini Boland, Adam Croft, Kathryn Croft, Lisa Gardner, Louise Jensen, or Rachel Caine, the answer is a resounding yes!

My husband is a doctor. He’s smart and charming, and everybody trusts him. Except me. On the surface, it looks like I have it all–the perfect marriage, the perfect husband, the perfect life. But it’s far from the truth. Doctor Drew Devlin is not the respectable figure he makes out to be. The reason we moved to this beautiful, old property with a gorgeous view of the sea was because we needed to put our past behind us. It should’ve been a fresh start for us both.

When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers. My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well. So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Hugo, with his perfect new home and his perfect new girlfriend Saskia. But this isn’t a dream come true. It’s a nightmare.

Story
My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

A stranger who claims he’s her husband. I never saw the end coming
The Silent Surrogate: A Psychological Suspense Thriller, my sixth amazing read from author N.L. Hinkens. I enjoyed the outstanding suspense story-line with its intricately woven twists and turns, I never saw the end coming! Norma (N.L.) Hinkens is on my radar of great authors! I was given an Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Narrator Mitzi Pirkey's narration adds to the book's enjoyment. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

A very entertaining psychological thriller!
Once again N. L. Hinkens has created a psychological thriller that takes you all the way to the end just knowing how it is going to come out only to find you really don’t have a clue. To say I enjoyed this story would be an understatement. Listening to Mitzi Pirkey’s narration further enhanced an already excellent story. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with plenty of twists, grab a copy of this book – especially the audiobook and settle in for a very enjoyable afternoon.

I found this to be interesting
A story full of lies , deceipt & mental health issues. The characters were great and the narrator was awesome. The ending was not what I expected at all. A great story full of suspense.

So Good
This was an exciting read. It kept me hooked with the secrets and hiding. I wasn’t sure where it was going.
Nora was out for revenge after what happened to her son. I was so intrigued every time we got a glimpse of what happened. Her revenge plan was fascinating to watch come together. The ending was unexpected and perfect, in my opinion.
Mitzi's narration was really good, a bit slow for me but not a problem when I increased the speed.

The Ending was way too quick
The Story was just okay, entertaining enough, but the twist and ending came all in about 10 minutes and it was over. There was no build up, or suspicion planted early on that would have you guessing. Books like these need to temp you and make you think that you JUUUST might know the twist, to find out that you are wrong in the end and surprised. This just came out of nowhere and then it was over. Also, the narrator was very slow, I had to make sure that I had the right speed on my phone, because she sounded almost a beat too slow.
