About this listen

Tribalism has made politics so awful I was forced to write a book about it. Well, fine. Fine.

This book explores the evolutionary roots of loving our team and hating the enemy team, and why groupish caveman instincts linger in our minds today. It answers: If tribalism is hardwired into us, what changed in the last twenty years? How did partisanship get so loud, toxic, and obnoxious, and ruin last Thanksgiving? Finally, it says what we can do about it as individuals navigating relationships, and as society as a whole.

"Tribalism is Dumb" will make you less flummoxed by partisanship, political loudmouths, and dogmatic pundits. It will make you taller, slimmer, and more attractive to everyone you could legally hit on. And it will make you better equipped to navigate tribalism in the wild.

An easy and insightful listen… I no longer plan to flee to Canada

I loved this book and if you have listened to anything Heaton has done than you will be familiar with his style and delivery and if you aren’t charmed by it you likely need to do some soul searching

funny, insightful, hopeful

a funny and insightful read about the current state of politics, that ends on a hopeful note. I enjoyed listening to it.

I fear or dear author Andrew Heaton may be cursed to write another book like this in the near future.

So that's why folks get so angry about politics

This self-narrated well-researched audiobook is must read for Pepsi executives. Caution: may contain minotaurs. This will be one of the rare books I read again in a few years.

Informative and Funny

I have listened to Andrew's podcast for the last 3 years. I've often wondered how he has managed to get so many different guests with different opinions and been able to carry out very amiable conversations even when they disagree. this book has been most informative and not only why and how our country has gotten to where we are politically, but has also given me insight on how to have conversations when they start to go off the rails politically. thank you Andrew for such a captivating novel.

Funny and Enlightening

Humorous and surprisingly well researched for a non-academic author. Heaton does an excellent job of digging into the evolutionary and cultural history that reveals our current divisiveness to be the rule rather than the exception of human nature. The awkward title aside, this book sits right next to works like Sapiens and The Status Game in my library.

Witty and insightful

This was a delightful listen! Heaton’s narration is great, and his writing style paired with this keeps the book from ever feeling dry and boring.
Even though the book is related to politics, I think this provides a great framework on how to have difficult conversations in everyday life. Would very much suggest this to read or listen to!

Defeat Tribalism and the Minotaurs

Tribalism is a horrible plague across the land, pulling us towards “Red Team” and “Blue Team”. We need to defeat it while remembering that we are all humans who are wired to be tribal. Heaton does a great job of trying to make us better, smarter, kinder, and more tolerant versions of what we are. I am so happy that I bought this book and read it! Thank you Heaton, good book!

A Hilarious Cold Shower

The book as a whole was a hilarious cold shower I didn't know that I needed and helped give me a new perspective in being.
From the witty personal anecdotes to some very deep sociological discussion. Tribalism is Dumb keeps you entertained while being candid about our political world. I look forward to whatever your Minotaur filled mind cooks up next!

His plenty of humor and thoughts that challenge your thoughts is great.

Amazing book. I hope this helps America with its tribalism. Keep up the good work.
