Contrary to popular belief, magic mushrooms have catalyzed waves of boundary-pushing sound and vision over time, defying assumptions by seeding profound creative shifts that still resonate. This focused study spells out how psilocybin unexpectedly took culture on a serious ride.
By unlocking adventurous mental states, mushies' trippy chemicals frankly freaked out conventional norms. Yet for all their psychedelic effects, shrooms stealthily energized artistic revolutions again and again – their otherworldly side permanently altering everything from smash hits to viral content and iconic styles.
While once easy to dismiss their subversive influence as fleeting, strong evidence examined herein puts doubts to rest: magic mushrooms have forever flipped culture on its head by fueling original fusions where unfiltered imagination merges with our creative spirit. Their ripples keep dropping minds through subtle but enduring impact.
- Uncover the hidden tales of iconic musicians and artists influenced by the psychedelic magic of psilocybin.
- Dive into a captivating journey through the evolution of cultural norms, guided by the ethereal touch of magic mushrooms.
- Explore the symbiotic relationship between altered states and the creation of timeless, groundbreaking music and media.

Story
Hilarious, fascinating, and a roller coaster of dizzying, historical what-ifs, Napoleon's Hemorrhoids is a potpourri for serious historians and casual history buffs. In one of Phil Mason's many revelations, you'll learn that Communist jets were two minutes away from opening fire on American planes during the Cuban missile crisis, when they had to turn back as they were running out of fuel. You'll discover that before the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon's painful hemorrhoids prevented him from mounting his horse to survey the battlefield.

Interesting book about a fascinating topic
The world of psychedelics has been shielded from most of us from most of our lives and only relatively recently have attempts been made to research the effects and uses of psychedelic mushrooms in healthcare.
This book provides a fascinating insight into the history of psychedelics as well as their modern uses and potential for the future. I particualrly like the accounts from real people about their experiences in using psychedelics.
The perfect starting point for anyone interested in learning more about the subject.

SO interesting!
I loved this book! It is a very direct and complete text explaining the effects and impacts of psychedelic substances (mainly mushrooms) in art and media throughout the years. It was an eye-opening listen, well-narrated and super engaging. If you've ever been curious and, like myself, wanted to debunk some myths or rumours around magic mushrooms, this is certainly a good one to add to your list.

Explains histoirical influence
The book captivates readers by tracing the historical influence of psilocybin from the counterculture movements of the 1960s to its pervasive presence in today's creative industries. It argues convincingly that the effects of psilocybin extend far beyond transient psychedelic experiences, embedding themselves into the very fabric of cultural expression and creativity.
