About this listen
In the perennial favorite Boundaries, Anne Katherine introduced the concept and importance of personal limits. In Where to Draw the Line, she takes the next step with a practical guide to establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries in a wide range of situations. With every encounter, we either demonstrate that we'll protect what we value, or that we'll give ourselves away. Healthy boundaries preserve our integrity. Unlike defenses, which isolate us from our true selves and from those we love, boundaries filter out harm.
This audiobook provides the tools and insights needed to create boundaries, which will free time and energy for the things that matter - and helps break down limiting defenses that stunt personal growth. Focusing on every facet of daily life - from friendships and sexual relationships to dress and appearance to money, food, and psychotherapy - Katherine presents case studies highlighting the ways in which individuals violate their own boundaries or let other people breach them. Using real-life examples, from self-sacrificing mothers to obsessive neat freaks, she offers specific advice on making choices that balance one's own needs with the needs of others.

Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. Story
Dr. Harriet B. Braiker, New York Times best-selling author of The Disease to Please, explains how depression, low self-esteem, chronic anger, and feelings of helplessness are often the result of being caught in relationships with manipulative people - including family members, friends, coworkers, and associates. More importantly, she arms listeners with the knowledge and tools they need to understand and identify manipulative personalities and to free themselves from the bondage of relationships with them.

Procrastination is an almost universal human experience. While many people attribute procrastination to laziness or a lack of drive, our real motivations to push back and delay important activities and decisions are more complicated than personal weakness. The truth is that humans are well-adapted for basic survival, but they are not so great at managing the stresses and expectations of modern life without a little help.

This book...is... AMAZING!
The author is incredibly knowledgeable and wise. Her examples were very relatable because they are real. There were also moments of humor where I literally laughed out loud!
The narrator was also a very good choice. The inflection in her voice really sounded as if the author were speaking to me.
On the subject matter: the whole book was illuminating and provided an enlightening experience.

Comprehensive
What most impressed me about this book was the breadth of situations and specific examples the author gives. I also really appreciated the secular nature of the book. Other books on boundaries I've read often take a religious approach that does not speak to me.
