    Oct 24 2024

    #alcohol #withdrawal #deliriumtremens #alcoholism #therapy #mentalhealth

Stu Nugent is a man of many talents, Content Creator, Youtuber, Writer, Marketer and Podcaster to name but a few, but perhaps his greatest talent is the ability to survive, recover and thrive in the face of a gripping addiction to alcohol and a long dark journey into hell.

Stu has written a book about his experiences "Just Crazy Enough To Work", which includes his attempt to cycle the infamous "Northern Silk Road" in a state of drunken abandon and is characteristically reminiscent of Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness". Tales of robbery, corruption, imprisonment and eventually... repatriation abound, chronicleing one alcoholic's descent into oblivion. What follow's is the customary slow, winding, crawl back to sobriety.

  • The Left Behind - Is the UK now the most unequal country in the world? - Sir Paul Collier
    Aug 18 2024

Who are the Left Behind? Whose Fault is it? and has the UK become the most unequal high income country in the world?

Sir Paul Collier, Professor of Economics & Public Policy at the University of Oxford, discusses the systematic destruction of the North of England, the causes of rising social unrest, the difficulty in stopping the downward spiral, and commonalities found in communities that have managed to recover.

World-renowned development economist Paul Collier has spent his life working in neglected communities and lays the blame for widening inequality on old fashioned neo-liberal economic idea's that prioritise market forces and a one-size-fits-all approach of centralised bureaucracies like the UK Treasury. As a result of these policies, Paul argues that the UK has become the most unequal and unfair society in the western world.
