For this fourth Sunday in Advent, we eavesdrop on the greeting between Elizabeth, mother-to-be of John the Baptist, and Mary, who has learned from the angel Gabriel that she will give birth to a son, Jesus. Elizabeth, Mary's older cousin, recognizes the work of God in Mary's life and rejoices with her. Mary responds with her own song of joy, hope, strength and confidence in God.
