  • Ep. 17: What Inspires You?
    Nov 8 2023

Where do you feel the tug on your heart…the ache in your soul?

These deeper stirrings are what I’ve come to know as little invitations. Invitations to explore and express in new ways.

We often think of these moments as feeling motivated.

But there’s a distinct difference between being motivated and feeling inspired. So how can you move through your days and identify which is which? Better yet, how can you use inspiration and motivation to realize new outcomes?

That’s what we’re exploring in this week’s episode of Up to Something.

    What You’ll Discover

    * What’s the difference between motivation and inspiration

    * Why inspiration matters

    * I share one of my favorite inspirations

  • Ep. 13 Purpose: What if You Never Find It?
    Oct 10 2023

So, what comes to mind when thinking about your purpose?

Do you light up like a Christmas tree? Roll your eyes in exasperation? Or just feel defeated?

Chances are it may be a bit of all three, especially if you’re at midlife like me.

That’s why in this episode of the Up to Something podcast we’re exploring what happens if you never find your purpose.

We’re programmed from an early age that we’re supposed to know what we want to do and who we want to be. Yet, by midlife the way your journey unfolds may be nothing like you expected.

So what do we do if we’re struggling to find our purpose?

For starters, we can look to our elders and how they’ve found meaning throughout different phases of life. And Dan Buettner’s brilliant Netflix series, “Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones” is a great place to begin.

  • Confessions of a Recovering Self-Help Junkie
    Jun 29 2023

Is it just me or have you also come to realize self-help is a special kind of addiction all its own?

Much like when I used to drink, I’d consume that fresh spirit, feel the dopamine rush, and ride the wave. It tastes and feels so good. So invariably you find yourself thinking, “oh, just one more won’t hurt.”

In your haze, you want so desperately to believe this is the elixir you need. You know, so you can work harder. Love bigger. Be more courageous. And for God’s sake, finally be your best self.

But then the high fades. And in the aftermath, you find yourself back in your reality. Back in your old habits. Back in the moment, remembering you cannot escape forever.

So you have to return. To be here. Right now...and face the truth about how change really works.

    Mar 1 2022

Think you're too old to level up your fitness? Think again. This week, we're joined by fitness coach and competitive Spartan racer Robin Legat.

  • Ep. 11 Timeout: Knowing When to Step Away
    Feb 22 2022

Do you need a timeout? Certainly, the pandemic has delivered a universal timeout over the past two years. And we're used to giving our kids timeouts. But in our day-to-day lives, we also need to step away sometimes. Perhaps from your kids, your work, or your life.

This week, we explore how to know when you need an adult timeout.

And how you can utilize the old adage of STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN to reconnect with yourself. So, you can return back to the demands of your life feeling more centered and open.

    YOUR ONE THING:
This week, your One Thing is to take a purposeful time out. When you feel that rise of anger, frustration or overwhelm...or that sinking of doubt, guilt, or shame…or you just need to step away…STOP…take a timeout.

Turn inward to LOOK at your thoughts, how you feel, what’s going on…

Finally, be willing to LISTEN to see what insights, ideas, patterns or actions you might do differently or what’s here for you to understand.
