Anton Chèjov (1860-1904) - Dramaturgo y autor de relatos ruso, es una de las figuras más destacadas de la literatura rusa. Chèjov nació el 29 de enero de 1860 en Taganrog y estudió medicina en la Universidad Estatal de Moscú. Casi no ejerció su profesión debido a su éxito como escritor y porque padecía tuberculosis.
