A Princess of Mars is a science fantasy novel by American writer Edgar Rice Burroughs, the first of his Barsoom series. It was first serialized in the pulp magazine All-Story Magazine from February-July, 1912. Full of swordplay and daring feats, the novel is considered a classic example of 20th-century pulp fiction. "The Land That Time Forgot" is a fantasy novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The novel is set in World War I and opens with a thermos off the coast of Greenland. It contains a story, the narrative of Bowen J. Tyler, an American passenger on a ship sunk in the English Channel by a German U-boat, U-33, in 1916. He is rescued by a British tugboat with another survivor, Lys La Rue. The tug is also sunk, but its crew manages to capture the submarine when it surfaces.
