Jeden z nejúspěšnějších románů od průkopníků fantastické literatury Julese Verna. Legendární kniha sleduje osudy tří statečných mužů, které kapitán Nemo zachránil před smrtí a potom uvěznil ve své podmořské lodi Nautilus. Nemo na své lodi vybudoval dokonalou výzkumnou laboratoř a zároveň děsivý nástroj pomsty. Napínavý příběh doprovází líčení tajemných mořských hlubin, zprávy o rozvoji techniky a varování před nebezpečím zneužití výsledků vědeckého pokroku. Autorova bohatá fantazie se drží v mezích technické pravděpodobnosti a proto román působí i dnes velmi přesvědčivě.

Although published under the name of Jules Verne, “In the Year 2889” is now believed to be chiefly, if not entirely, the work of Jules' son, Michel Verne. In any event, many of the topics in the story echo Verne's ideas. A rather humorous look at the future.

"Michael Strogoff" is the 14th novel in Jules Verne's Extraordinary Voyages cycle, his largest and most influential body of published work.
