Emma Bovary is the original desperate housewife. Beautiful but bored, Emma is not content to be the mere dutiful wife of a French country doctor. In provincial France lives Charles Bovary, a doctor who is in an unhappy marriage, and Emma Roualt, the daughter of a farmer who wishes for a more exciting life. When this pair crosses paths, there is immediate connection and excitement, and the two are married. Un cœur simple est une nouvelle écrite par Gustave Flaubert qui parait pour la première fois en 1877 dans le recueil Trois contes composé de "La légende de Saint Julien l'Hospitalier", de Hérodias et enfin "D'un cœur simple" qui est sa dernière production romanesque achevée.
