Many of my readers and listeners write to me, and they often want to know how to improve or fix a relationship between a narcissistic personality disordered (NPD) man and a borderline personality disordered (BPD) woman. This dynamic duo tends to get together a lot more than people seem to realize. This duo is one of the most difficult relationships to maintain but can also be one of the most rewarding love connections realized by both sides of the duo.

Many people have OCPD partners, parents, friends, bosses, or other loved ones in their lives. They struggle with the OCPD people's rigidity, negativism, and critical nature. The OCPD people struggle to meet the expectations of others, shackled by their own perfectionism. The OCPD person is a slave to the little voice inside his or her head that was intended to guide positive behaviors long ago. Many people who know someone with OCPD want to know how to help the OCPD sufferer from doing some of his or her repetitive or negative behaviors. They may be bothered by the OCPD person's behaviors, or they want to help the OCPD person to live a more fulfilling life overall.

A psychological complex can drive a person's thoughts, feelings, and emotions. It can cause one to react inappropriately, irrationally, and violently to any given circumstance. Often, other people are not aware of the signs and symptoms of a psychological complex. However, they are hidden just beneath the surface, driving a person's decisions and causing seemingly stable people to unravel at the most inopportune times. A psychological complex can drive a person to murder without much warning, and he or she may not be so easy to diagnose.

Ever since the DSM scale to differentiate personality disordered individuals was created, there have likely been relationships between men and women who have narcissistic personality-disordered and borderline personality-disordered personalities. It might seem that this dynamic duo shouldn't last, or shouldn't get together at all, but there is a lot of evidence that these relationships can and do work for a number of couples, who are quite happy in their unions.

In pursuing relationships with narcissists, we are often wrapped up in their tornadoes of manipulation, lies, and drama. Many women find it exciting and exhilarating to be with someone who is so erratic, eccentric, and seemingly unstable. These same women claim to feel dead inside if they meet "boring" and normal guys who can be there for them on a consistent basis.
