About this listen

The summer after senior year was supposed to be the best summer of my life.

It was supposed to be full of adventure and self-discovery and making love under the stars.

It was supposed to be about losing myself and finding my way.

Only, it wasn’t supposed to start like this.

I wasn’t supposed to go to that party.

He wasn’t supposed to notice me.

The hot jock with the trust fund and chip on his shoulder.

My ex-boyfriend’s half brother.

Noah Tedesco is so far out of my league he might as well be playing a different game.

Noah wasn’t supposed to look twice at a girl like me, but he did.

Now that I’m on his radar, my life will never be the same.

Truly is a dark coming-of-age romance that explores themes like non-con, dub-con, and happily ever after.

Wonderful

This is a beautiful story to read but to hear the narration was just mind blowing. I love it especially when she changes and adds the southern accent.

I could feel all of the emotion in this story from the beginning to the end. It flows wonderfully . I could listen to this over and over again.

Amazing!!

I loved it before but now I'm even more in love with Truly. Lacey Laurel brought out even more emotions than the words alone and the intense scenes were even more so with the her exceptional narration.
Truly was already in my top reads of all time and now it is solidified there because of this audio.

Truly and Noah forever!

I read the PB and loved it, so I wanted to give the audiobook a try. I liked it, but I still wish that Noah had been narrated by Male. The ending when the male narrator read for Noah was a nice treat. wish he'd read for the entire book.

Dark Coming Of Age Romance

Truly by Carmel Rhodes is a dark coming of age romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Lacy Laurel.

This is the first book of Carmel's that I have read and it won't be my last. The best way I can describe Truly and Noah's relationship is messy and a bit toxic. But through the book they both really grew together and by the end you couldn't help but root for them.

Lacy did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, new adult romances, or coming of age romances.

Dark Romance! 🖤

I liked it! Truly is a beautiful, strong, and intriguing character. Noah is enigmatic, dominant, devious, manipulative, and possessive. Their story is complex, emotional, dark, raw, and twisted. This story is definitely original, heart-rending, and captivating. Lacy Laurel did an excellent job with the narration. She was perfect as Truly! Her performance is amazing. I loved Connor Crais's short appearance. I enjoyed it. If you like DARK romance, this one is for you. #AudiobookObsession

One of my favorite books this year. 💋❤️

I read this book before the audiobook came out, and completely fell in love with the way Carmel Rhodes writes. She can turn a phrase, get inside the characters heads by showing you rather telling you, and make you feel everything along with them. Truly is a young woman, newly graduated from high school, planning a cross-country trip with her best friend. Noah is a classmate and athletic star, who is attracted to her but doesn’t know how to navigate a relationship with anyone, let along someone he’s falling in love with. There are triggers and the author is up-front about them. Please don’t let that deter you from this wonderful book. I promise, the top-notch writing and narration make it so worth it.

Love the story, but....

I have to to say that I loved this book when it first came out, So when I heard it was going to audio I just knew I had to get it. I have to say that Lacy is not one of my favorite narrators. I feel like a lot of authors are going with for some reason. Also she need to work on her character development for the voices. I don't want for all the character to sound almost alike. That is what I felt like I was getting that in this book. But beside all that, I love the book. I am hoping that Carmel will do some more dark romance books.

Tedesco Out

Dark Romance
Road trip
Possessive/obsessed MMC
Dub/con
Bully
Sports
Diversity
3rd act breakup

This story has all the red flags. From the outside it looked Noah Tedesco had it all; money, looks , popularity and a skilled basketball player with NBA talent. He did not have Truly, his brother’s girlfriend. He would do and did anything to get her. Once he got her in his clutches he had a stranglehold. He could be tough and brutal and he could be the sweetest man in the world. His character did a lot of growing. He started off bad but Truly withstood his misplaced anger and bad treatment.

Truly was the introverted, weird girl with the purple braids. She didn’t have a lot of friends. She was okay with just her best friend. Becca was the best friend everyone would want. They planned a road trip to honor Truly’s deceased mother, a road tripped crashed by Noah and his best friend. The following 3weeks were filled with Noah and Truly falling in love.

Very steamy with some kink.

This story was dark and filled with angst and emotion. Grief, parental abuse and dubious consent are also discussed.

Truly Awesome

Carmel Rhodes' "Truly", is super sharp, dark, and deliciously twisted with a well-built plot. Truly and Noah's journey is full of twists and turns ... it's not your typical love story...it's quite devastating... and will take your breath away. Their HEA?? is dubious and in a class by itself. If you like dark romances that "blow up" the envelope, this book is for you. Brilliant!!

Lacey Laurel is simply sublime. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer🎧
