About this listen

How far is too far when it comes to love?

In a matter of moments, everything Taly ever thought she knew came crashing down around her. Her mother's spells were broken, her powers unleashed. She's no longer mortal but fey, and every day serves as a reminder that her entire life has been a lie.

To make matters worse, Taly has been captured and imprisoned by a woman claiming to be the Time Queen. Her only way home is to play the queen's game and train in the art of time magic. The queen has commanded that she become an Acolyte - a task that could take years to complete.

Meanwhile, Skye is left as the last line of defense to protect Tempris from an invading horde of walking dead. He still doesn't have a name or a face to put to his enemy, and there are traitors inside the city. Everyone keeps saying that Taly is dead, but he can't accept it. He won't. And he'll do whatever it takes to bring her back - even if it costs him everything.

A renegade queen, forbidden magic, and a love that reaches across time and space - Taly and Skye will be tested, their loyalties pushed to the point of breaking, as war looms on the horizon.

Contains mature themes.

Beautifully crafted story

Stephanie Fisher does it again with Book 2 of this series. This book delves deeper into the characters and their backstories. It did not drag. If anything it makes the wait till Book 3 extra difficult. Can't wait for the next installment.

Pretty amazing

The pros: Fisher does a great job of making you fall in love with her characters. There is something incredibly genuine about them that really ropes you in. So much so that I'm eagerly anticipating the next book. Also, the narrator is phenomenal. Absolute pleasure to listen to.

The cons: these aren't deal breakers because the book, and the series so far, is pretty amazing. I feel like she could have progressed the plot further in this one. An entire city was under siege so it kinda fell a little flat when nothing came of that by the the of the book. Also, the foreshadowing and the tidbits of information dished out very deliberately by some characters is kind of frustrating. A character has answers but says that the MC isn't ready yet, even though the audience already has much of this information and has had it for a while. I don't think you should give the readers so much more information than the MC. It makes the reader feel like they're just waiting for the MC to catch up and it can get frustrating. It's probably better to keep your audience and your MC on the same page. Also, you want to end on a high note. The last 10% of the book was kind of at a 'winding down' pace. I was surprised the action was all over just at the 90% mark.

What Happened to the action

It was long for nothing to actually happen. Book 1 was fun with all the action, banter, and romantic tension. And then this one had none of that. Talia spends the entire book with a crazy woman training, and the rest seemed like lots of filler. I loved book 1, book 2 was just eh, but I am absolutely looking forward to book 3.

Great book!

I liked pretty much everything about the book and the story was gripping. Characters were well fleshed out and the plot twists were delicious.
The Queen was such a fun add to the story!

Superb epic fantasy, perfect for fans of Throne of Glass

The second installment of Tempris continues the stories world building, magic system, and character development.
Due to the main characters being separated throughout the book we lose the banter between Taly and Skye which gives this book a darker vibe. We get to see the characters develop on their own and see what they are willing to do to get back to each other.
The side characters are introduced in more chapters and we start to see their perspective and how they may influence the story. I honestly can’t wait to see how Kato fits in with Taly and Skye and hope the banter comes back in the third book.
This series is a perfect example of how you don’t need smut to make an amazing story. This story is up there with Throne of Glass. I will never stop recommending this series to others.

Amazing

Let’s start off by saying wow this is amazing.

Elizabeth evans always does an amazing job and has really evolved the more I’ve listened to her over the 10ish book I’ve listened to by her

Stephanie fisher i once wrote you telling you how amazing book one was and that I couldn’t wait for book two. I wasn’t disappointed.

Story amazing. Very original with some nice twists or mystery. I have some predictions but it to early two tale.

The book had an amazing amount of character development and as a middle book i personally believe that is necessary it shows how the character progressed and why they did it and what motivates them.

Reason for my 4star review instead of 5. While I loved the book there are a couple things that felt off. The romance was thick and while that’s okay I felt it over shadowed a lot of the rest of the story. I believe in one of Travis bag wells story’s he said with a paraphrase “I don’t know how ingot my wife I know nothing about romance. “ Stephanie fisher is a queen of romance and I was rooting for it the whole time. But a lot of the other characters got forgotten or overlooked due to it. Example at bottom

Summary if you liked book one get book two it’s a little filler but it’s a lot more content or material then some people give you and you won’t feel rushed

Letter to the author. You have an amazing world and so much potential. Take your time, explore it. I’d love to know more about the other worlds And the other races. Keep up the amazing work and I’ll be waiting for the next one.

Spoiler kinda.

Amy was hardly in the book and while I’m not sure I like her. I wanted to see more of her character development. I really hope it happens in book 3.

WOW! I am HOOKED

This book just gets better and better! I have purchased over 60 books on audible and this has to be my favorite performance by Stephanie fisher and possibly any narrator, she completed crushes the characters and accents and snappy remarks and personalities- I’m obsessed and the story is so intriguing and well thought out that it resembles the best of Doctor Who plots- the ones where your jaw is dropped because somehow the authors managed to give you time travel out of order while still having you understand what’s happening and dying to know how it plays out! Stephanie Fisher is a god and this book is getting me through a really difficult injury and recovery, and just life in general! Thank you! I hope there are many more books and that book 3 isn’t the end!
